Had a lovely Sunday in Bristol with Lizzie. We got up quite late and then enjoyed some coffee before heading out to The Maul and M&S where I stocked up on the basics. Then we took a nice car tour through town and I got to see my old hood and lots of familiar places, and ended up at the waterfront to have lunch and – I was assured – the very best chips in Bristol, at the River Station. And they truly were amazing. Later on we took a walk over to the Avon Gorge Hotel hoping to see the sun set behind the Clifton Bridge, but clouds rolled in and so we headed home for cava and snacks.
This morning I am off to pick up a prezzie for Nog and to visit Lizzie’s Folk House Cafe (can’t wait!), before packing up and getting on the train to Paddington, and then making my way to Heathrow to fly home again. I’ve had a wonderful time –Β especially meeting with friends old and new – and I hope you’ve enjoyed me sharing my trip with you.

What a relaxing Sunday you just had. I wish I could spend time like that as well, I need to make some time management for me to organize things first.

Really cool trip…I am curious about the Portuguese beer with the chips π

Gastropub, dahlink. Apparently what they had on tap was crap so Lizzie chose from the eclectic bottled beer menu. And those wee dishes are apparently tapas, though not as we know them JM. But it was all very tasty – especially the chips!

Ah Bristol has bitterweet memories for me, that’s where the guy I was unrequitedly in love with lives. But its a great city and the view from the Avon Gorge Hotel is stunning.
So glad you had such a wonderful trip!

I have lots of bittersweet Bristol memories too, but wasn’t there long enough for them to sink in too much. In fact, spent most of my time very happily cosied up in Lizzie’s kitchen, and was always in Lizzie’s company, which always has a soothing effect on me. Even hearing her voice will do it for me. She really is that special.

Prezzie for Nog turned out to be a big jar of marmite. Totally unobtainable in Spain for reasons I can’t quite fathom (they sell Bovril), and much appreciated. Marmite on toast for breakfast, mmmm. Almost makes up for missing all those meals out.

So easy to buy for. π
Shame I couldn’t find the new version that Sara & Steve had told me about, but Nog assures me he is very happy with the old faithful. You should have seen his face light up when I pulled the jar out of my suitcase!
