bleachers

For the first time since 2019 they’re putting up the bleachers for Semana Santa in Plaza San Francisco. I actually have a couple of lunchtime tapas tours booked that week and will take a cautious look around a few of the processions (I know the routes and how to avoid the crowds). It’s concerning that governments are cutting back on testing, artificially forcing Covid “numbers” down simply by ignoring them. And you hear very little any more about Covid in the media. I keep doing rapid tests once a week and also keep hoping Spain won’t revoke the mask mandate for indoor public places. Lots of mixed feelings about things returning to “normal”.

soup time

After nothing but toast and broth since Sunday l decided to go for something a bit more substantial. Potato, onion, cauliflower and broccoli purée with pan cristal croutons. Soothing. Am feeling better today and so far the tests are still negative. 🤞

These are the colours of Sevilla.
And I would happily live in any of these three houses.

san eloy

Patio San Eloy started back in 1972 with their first bar (in my street!), and now they have several spots around town. Good basic food, always fresh, and ice cold beer. But their original bar is the one I like best with its tiled “bleachers” that run along the back walls. To commemorate their 50th anniversary a large canvas replica of a special poster made up for the celebration is hanging above another iconic spot, the Cafetería La Campana, depicting celebrities who have some sort of connection to the bar (some of which escape me). I have been invited to drop in and ask for a candle to put on my tapa. Hey, why not?
