Yay, #SherryWeek is here at last! And since this is 2020 it will be a largely virtual affair, so this week I am going to take you through one of my Sherry & Tapas tastings, one wine per day (7 in total) with some of my favourite pairings. Hope this gives you a little inspiration for trying sherry as it was meant to be enjoyed, with good food and good friends.

This popped up in my ONE YEAR AGO Instagram memories… l was on my way to Madrid and Morcilla clearly didn’t want me to go. So I’m guessing she’s been loving her Covid year and having her human constantly at her beck and call.
It was also a little bittersweet remembering this trip to attend my friend José Pizarro’s book launch, back when it was possible to travel and when I had a job ETC ETC ETC. I wonder how it will feel looking back a year from now.

“Sorry for the inconvenience,
we are doing the impossible to open as soon as possible”
Since Sunday we have been put back into a State of Emergency, which apparently will last through to next May, though it’s not a total lockdown like in March and the situation will be reviewed every two weeks. This time there is a curfew between 11 pm and 6 am, which means bars and restaurants had to start shutting at 10 pm from last Sunday evening. We were told that regional governments (we have 17 of them) would have the option to move the curfew start time one hour either way.
And so while we were waiting for the first two weeks to pass and everyone was busy complaining about not being able to go out LIKE WE USED TO (I soooo want to just slap these people) we found out on Wednesday that beginning today (Friday) various municipalities throughout Spain would be shut in, meaning there would be no travel allowed in or out save for the following exceptions: to work, study, receive medical care, or care for a family member.

Those who know me know how much I love my Kiplings. They are not only cute and colourful, they’re also practical with lots of clever pockets all over the place. But best of all… THEY ARE WASHABLE. Yep, just toss these babies in the washing machine and they come out fresh and clean and can air dry within a couple of hours. So that’s what I did this past weekend when I realised I’d be putting the two summer bags (green and red) away and using just the purple one for the winter.
Since Covid being able to wash handbags has become more than just a convenience, though even before I would get grossed out thinking about old leather bags that never get cleaned on the inside, so I stopped buying them years ago. I feel the same way about leather gloves… ewww. In fact, saw some leather gloves on display in a shop the other day and wondered who would even wear those now, unless they also wore disposable latex gloves inside them. Yeah I know, it’s not easy being me. 😉
ps. took me half an hour to untangle all the straps…
