It’s been a long-time dream of mine (and still is) to visit the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, in part because I’ve always wanted to see the famous Louise Bourgeois spider there “in person”. But I got a chance to see a slightly smaller version in Málaga at the Picasso Museum (something I’d forgotten to do on my last Málaga Getaway). Luckily the I’ve Been To Hell and Back exhibition was still on (until the end of September) and so off I went. To be honest, for me the spider was the best part. A lot of Bourgeois’ work is the stuff of nightmares, and some of it I actually wish I could unsee. But I did get to see the spider and it was magnificent.

I didn’t manage to get any sunset shots of the Málaga Wheel, but did enjoy sunset cava with my friend Jo @missbishopsgate, who was staying at the fab Roommate Larios Hotel. I love their rooftop bar. 🙂

After a long and lazy lunch yesterday we were given a brief tour of barrio Lagunilla by the fabulous Victor @welovemalaga. Still very much a neglected part of town, the locals are trying to create an authentic “soho” area that will perhaps attract attention and much needed funds to breathe new life into the barrio. Really liked a lot of the street art, though I wouldn’t feel very safe walking around there on my own. Maybe this will change.
