So this happened today and it made me much sadder than breaking a bowl should have done. It’s just that I’ve had this bowl for so long and it’s been at times a water bowl, at other times a food dish, for the cats. Since way before I even had my present threesome, so it’s gone through two generations.

At the time I was still recovering from my hysterectomy over Christmas-New Year 1999-2000 and Pablo had gone away on a trip to Portugal… and he brought this back for me. Because, cats. Then this morning Morcilla lept off her little table and knocked the bowl off and… smash! Dammit.

When I was asking Big Al for oil sprayer advice (he’d just bought one for his new air fryer) somehow the topic of pepper grinders came up, how they never last, etc and he told me he’d stopped using them and uses a mortar and pestle instead. And then I happened to see this while I was out looking for a sprayer. Gotta admit it’s a bit more work, but at least it will keep on working as long as I do.  😉  And look! It fits perfectly in the spice cupboard next to my happy-making lazy susan.

oil sprayer

The Stormcooker™️ came with a little rack and 5 skewers and, although there are a whack of accessories out there that you can buy for air fryers, this seemed sufficient. Until I realised how handy it would be to be able to SPRAY OIL on various food items (especially as so many recipes say “spray with oil…”). So I had a look on amazon and there were so many kinds of oil sprayers it made me dizzy. Eventually I found this one in a shop around the corner from me and I liked that it also doubled as a cruet. AND it’s cute! However, although it sprayed water just fine (while I was washing it) it actually squirts out oil in a hard stream. Not exactly the effect I was hoping for. Maybe it’s because I’m using olive oil? Perhaps a lighter oil would spray? On the other hand, those promo pics definitely show OLIVES next to the sprayer. Whatevs.
