I was at the supermarket today looking for baby spinach leaves and came across this display of packaged salads. Antiox, Cardio, Inmuno… how can they get away with this blatantly false labelling? It’s just lettuce FFS.

My English travel writer friend Nicky Swallow and her Italian photo journalist husband Luca are visiting Sevilla this week and yesterday we met for a bit of lunch. I met Nicky in London a few years back when we both were hired to write for SimonSeeks – a job that, at the time, truly saved my financial butt. Last time we met was a couple of years ago when she and Luca were here on holiday. Nicky keeps saying I MUST come to Florence off-season and stay at their holiday rental apartment… she may yet wear me down. 🙂

Who hasn’t heard of the 5:2 diet yet? For those who haven’t, it’s the latest fad diet that has now reached cult status, and is definitely making big money for some people. I personally think it’s mostly a whole new neurotic way of “dealing with” (actually obsessing about) food, but hey, whatever. It has also made me aware of something called cauliflower rice. What a great birthday! I met up with Eduardo @differentspain and Saray @saraypineda for a lunchtime tapeo that lasted until very late in the afternoon. We stopped at three different tapas bars and had lovely snacks at each one. Then Saray had to go so Edu and I went off for a bit of birthday cake and rosé cava. After that I (finally) picked up my train tickets and then spent a quiet and cosy evening at home with the cats. Woke up in the wee hours to the Return of the Christmas Cold and tossed and turned for the rest of the night. Today I’m staying in – and staying warm – so that I will hopefully be in good shape to catch that early train to Barcelona mañana! Feeling both nervous and excited…
