I’ve been enjoying this on Netflix, though I have to admit that I have never seen the Seinfeld series. But this episode almost broke my heart. Obama getting coffee, being funny, being smart, being a human being. Speaking in complete intelligible sentences. It seems SOOOOOOOOOOOOO long ago, doesn’t it? Can you even remember what it was like not having a gross and disgusting self-serving idiot running the US of A?

Thanks to Kate @sledpress for sending this my way. What an excellent idea. Empathy cards for serious illnesses – or what to say when you don’t know what to say – by Emily McDowell. Though of course I hope none of you will ever have to send me one, they are quite clever and right on the money. Reminded me of that list I posted here a few years ago… stupid things people say.

This is the first novel I’ve bought in years! After giving away a few hundred books when I moved last summer, I honestly thought my book buying days were over (other than for cookbooks and books on sherry). But then on the recent anniversary of Terry Pratchett’s death I came across a conversation on Twitter about this, his final, book, and decided I had to have it. And who knows? I might even read it. It’s hard to believe that I used to read a book a week. Now I spend all my reading time on the iPhone…
What’s the last book you bought?
