hope 2015 beginning

Continuing the “tradition of hope” started on January 3rd 2009 when I posted my first ever Photohunt entry. The theme that week was “hope” and I put up a photo of my daybook turned to January 3rd 2010 with the words “STILL HERE!” written on it. Since then I have posted a similar photo on this date and hope with all my heart that I’ll be here to do the same next year.

This photo also serves as this week’s Friday Foto Finder challenge “beginning”… if all goes well this year it will indeed be a new beginning. I will get the chemo port removed, and PET scans will only be once a year. Fingers crossed my friends.

friday foto finder – favourite foto

azar, love of my lifeThis week’s Friday Foto Finder challenge is “favourite foto”…

So yeah, I know most of you have seen this one before. Choosing a favourite photo turned out to be difficult when I thought about my thousands of photos and what would make them a favourite. Most of my favourite shots were total flukes, like some of the stunning flamenco ones, a spectacular moment at sunrise, or a candid street scene. But then I remembered this photo of Azar, the love of my life, which was also taken just by chance (por azar) after waking up one morning to find him on the headboard looking down at me. I carry this photo with me as my screenlock on the iPhone, so I see it several times a day. It helps, I think, to see his beautiful face. Because I still miss him every single day.

the sunshine of my life

sunny the dudeMy big handsome Sunny was born twenty years ago on August 5th, sometime between 10 and 11 in the morning. I was there and held each kitten in my hands shortly after Lua had cleaned them up. Later when I was trying to decide which kitten to keep for myself (there was a queue of people waiting to take the others) Sunny made the decision for me by being the only kitten to wait by the door when I came home. So doggy. And he stayed very doggy all his life.

These days I have a splendid and equally huge orange boy who is so similar that I often end up calling him Sunny.

But Sunny will always be my big cuddly bear cat, so solid, so constant. He died in my arms sometime between 10 and 11 in the morning on November 18th 2009. I still miss the sunshine of my life.
