palo cortadosThe Sherry Twitter Tasting I told you about was last night! As you can see I had everything nicely set up, including a not so subtle shot of my Sherry Educator certificate in the background (actually still haven’t figured out where to hang it, so for now it’s on the table). Anyhow, it was very cool, tasting some very fine palo cortados and commenting live on Twitter. Though I have to say I felt a little out of my depth in terms of “tasting note vocab” so stuck to somewhat light fluffy comments. It was fun though – will write a bit more about the event on Azahar Spain soon.

palo cortadoOn the heels of receiving my Sherry Educator Certificate I was also chosen to participate in one of two Sherry Twitter Tastings, being held during International Sherry Week. And I got chosen for the Palo Cortado tasting – bonus! Here is my set of samples, which I got in the mail this week. Including the one that inspired my sherry ephiphany – the VORS from Bodegas Tradición. Apparently that little one in the middle is especially rare. Anyhow, really looking forward to taking part in this.

milliThe Twitter magic continues… with a surprise visit by Milli @milliskitchen and her family who run the gorgeous @rancherdelingles near Málaga city. I’ve known Milli and mum Miyuki (on Twitter and Instagram) for awhile now, and got to meet Milli in person when I was in London last June. So it was an extra special treat to meet the whole family, including dad David and brother Cameron. We were just going to meet up for a drink after I’d finished a lunchtime tapas tour, which somehow ended up segueing into an impromptu evening tapas tour. Fun times.

andrew cristinaThat ol’ Twitter magic happened again this week when I found out that Andrew @AndrewFriedhoff and Cristina @cristinalndn were in town from London. We’d all been following each other for ages but I didn’t know that Cristina is a Sevillana. Though what I did know is that both are great food & wine lovers, so we made a plan to meet up for tapas. First stop was at the always fabulous Bodeguita Romero, where he had some lovely jamón and a couple of other tapitas, paired with outstanding sherries from Bodegas Tradición. Our starters finished, we went off to meet Cristina’s sister Mónica and her husband Armando at Petit Comité. A wonderful evening with new friends, all thanks once again to Twitter.
