So now that my websites are up and running again I need to choose a good security service, so nothing like this happens again. I did a brief stint with SiteLock as an emergency measure, but in fact bought the wrong product (thanks to “advice” from HostGator) and then got a fast talking sales pitch from a SiteLock rep that kind of put me off them. So am now looking at Sucuri, which gets good reviews.
Anyone had any experience with Sucuri, or can recommend another tried and trusted service?

So after a brief stint with SiteGround earlier this week, looks like HostGator’s still got me. Mostly because SiteGround didn’t offer enough space and HostGator was refusing to refund the money remaining on my account with them (paid up until June 2020).
However HG did agree to upgrade me to a business package at no extra cost, so what the hell. I don’t think there’s really much difference between these hosting places, and I may have had the same shitty “service” from any of them during my hacking crisis.
The place that did the data base cleaning also offers a hosting service, which they claim is much more secure than anything these big companies provide, but it also costs more than twice as much and, as I say, HostGator was not letting go of my money. So for now I will stay where I am and stay on top of things, like updates, etc. as well as adding extra security.

Following tradition (see the 4 iPhones of az) it became a THING to take a selfie with my latest iPhone and end up using it as my avatar across the internets. But since I moved to the new Casa Azahar, there was no good place to do this as my bathroom, lovely as it is, looked too much like a bathroom (towel rack, etc in the background). Then today two things happened! I got my hair cut and ended up in a bar with a fairly neutral background in its loo. So hey … my new avatar for 2018 with the fabulous iPhoneX.

I first met Becky, Scott and their 4 kids in December 2015, after they had taken a We Love Tapas Tour with the fabulous Delia. And that Christmas Day I spent a wonderful afternoon with them. Then in the spring of 2017 Scott came back to Sevilla with a friend and took a Sherry & Tapas Tour with me. The family has been back to Spain a few times since then, but this time Becky was passing through Sevilla with three of her brood (husband and eldest stayed home this trip), and we got to meet up for a lovely lunch.
Wow, what a difference 2.5 years have made, as you can see from the two photos above. Honestly, I love these kids (NOT a phrase you hear me say often đŸ˜‰ ). They are so inquisitive and fun to be with. And of course, it was great to catch up with Becky. After lunch we stopped at Rayas for ice cream and then it was time to say “hasta luego”. Plans are afoot for a return visit to Sevilla in October. Can’t wait!

So remember the person who got in touch by email last week to tell me about the new vermouth bar Yo Soy Tu Padre? Well, we were able to meet up before they headed home. Meet Sally and Rand from Boston, shown here at YSTP (later we went for a penĂºlitima at La Azotea). I never know who is reading my stuff, so it’s always great when I get to meet someone who has enjoyed my websites. They plan to come back next spring and spend another month in Triana, so we will stay in touch and hopefully see each other again next year.
