Summer temps have arrived – 30º and higher all week – so it’s time to put away the duvet and sip strawberry daiquiris on a shady rooftop next to the pool. 🙂

Happy Andalucía Day!
It’s also the first day wearing sandals this year, and a record-breaker. Previously the earliest day recorded was on March 9, 2015. In fact, it’s been warm enough for sandals (at least during the day) since last weekend, but I only now got around to doing a quick pedi. My toes already feel happier. 🙂

Coldest day of the 2018-2019 winter so far – overnight temps 2º, daytime high of just 14º. Brrrrrrrrr…. and so while I do have the luxury of functioning central heating here at Casa Azahar, it’s also nice to feel warmed up from the inside. Hence this spicy chicken garam masala, chock full of veg (red & green peppers, onions, garlic, spinach, courgette, parsley, cilantro) which is making the house smell amazing. Will add yoghurt when it’s served. Only problemita is that I’ve made enough for at least 8 people. Who’s coming over? 😉

I am finally resigned to the idea that it is NO LONGER SUMMER. I’ve swapped over my wardrobe and have put the sandals away. It’ll be tights and shoes until March now! And the duvet is on the bed, which actually feels nice and cosy – also, the cats love it! Still haven’t put the heat on at home yet though, but reckon that’ll happen soon. So yeah, this is winter (we don’t really get autumn here). Some days it’s still warm enough to wear just a light jacket, but the rains have started so there’s also that. But then there are beautiful wispy cloud days like this, which I also love. Hola winter, and welcome.

Forget global warming! Sevilla is undergoing The Great Polar Freeze, which basically happened overnight. One day I was happily wearing my sandals (with a light jacket in the evening) and SUDDENLY it was so cold, well, THIS happened.
Checking back this is a full TWO WEEKS earlier than in 2017, ten days earlier than in 2016, and in 2015 it didn’t happen until bloody November 18th! I’m so sad about this. Especially because it was no fun stuffing my still bruised and swollen sprained toes into a pair of shoes last night. But the only other option would’ve been wearing tights with sandals, and well, no.
