testing testing (2)

Just picked up a months supply of Combo rapid tests (Covid/FluAB/RSV) for me and Peter. Covid cases are spiking here, friends in the UK have been testing positive (and getting very sick) and so what the heck. In any case I’ve been testing weekly for Covid (every Wednesday morning!) for the past four years. You know,  just in case, as I have known several people who tested positive while asymptomatic. Aside from the weekly test I also test if I’m feeling a bit “iffy” or before I travel. Why do I do this? Because if I tested positive with having a highly-infectious Bio Safety Level 3 air-borne virus I would STAY THE FUCK AT HOME so I didn’t infect anyone else. I mean, you would too, right? Oh wait… you wouldn’t want to mess up your travel plans or miss that special event because, hey, your symptoms are “mild”. Or perhaps you’d prefer not to know if your out of season “cold” and “allergy” symptoms, a sudden gastroenteritis episode, that pesky 100 day cough is actually Covid so that you can pretend you’re not infectious and then keep going about your business as usual while not caring about anyone else.

Before I go further… if you happen to be a Covid denier or minimiser you may as well fuck off right now because I don’t want to hear from you. I’ve heard it all before over these past four and a half years and you make me sick. Literally.

new pillows

The other day I looked up how often pillows should be replaced and the answer was EVERY 1-2 YEARS. Oops. So off I went to El Corte Inglés and found these on sale. Seems to be getting harder to find washable pillows and I really don’t like those squishy memory foam ones. Anyhow, how often do you replace your pillows? I remember mentioning washing mine on Twitter once (because I’m interesting that way 😉) and omg I couldn’t believe the number of people who never wash their pillows. Looking forward to enjoying these guys on Sunday (aka clean sun-dried sheet day).

blue morillo

Yes, THAT Murillo. In the square in front of the Fine Arts Museum, around the corner from my house. Honestly, I still pinch myself sometimes.

taller andaluz (16)

This week our Gastro Guías enjoyed their last event until summer break, a private cooking class at Taller Andaluz de Cocina in Triana Market. And it couldn’t have been better. I first did a class with them back in 2015 and it was terrific, so when we were looking for a way to close out our first season this seemed like a fun option. And well, not only was it fun, but everyone learned a lot and we got to eat all the amazing food we prepared ourselves with a glass of wine.

The Menú Andaluz

· garbanzos con langostinos y ají amarillo
· espinacas con garbanzos
· rosquitos de naranja

sister sue (1)

The last time I saw my sister Sue was when she was back in town in 2014. So it was a wonderful surprise when she left a message here the other day saying she would be passing through Sevilla over the weekend with her husband Greg. Anyhow, as Paul is also in town this week we decided to all get together for a fabulous feast, with Peter joining us too.  And feast we did. We started off with a few tapitas at Casa Morales and then moved on for the “main course” at Señor Cangrejo.

It was a lovely afternoon, catching up, lots of laughs and some reminiscing. Sure hope it’s not another ten years before I see her again.
