Well, it’s a beautiful morning here … watched the sun come up about an hour ago, all apricot coloured on the horizon. Nog’s gone to the cafeteria to have brekky and then he’ll head home to shower, snibble the boys and probably make a few sandwiches for today. Although my op is scheduled for 3 o’clock it could really happen anytime after 11, so Nog wants to get back here by then.
The Team should be here soon for a quick visit (mostly to reassure me – they know how nervous I get). Then I’ll shower while my bedsheets are changed and after that just hang out, waiting for THEM to come and get me.
Hope I’ll be back soon. Or even just back (eep!) …
You’re probably getting a bit tired of sending best wishes, etc, so random chat would be just fine.
What are you guys up to today? 🙂
just work as usual. now reading blogs and munching on home made date loaf…

Aaaack! I’ve been brunelled! Shame on you Bels. 😛
Archie plays scrabble with you, Silverstar? I tried starting a game with him ages ago (when it was still on Farcebook) and he never responded. 😦 Maybe I should try again …
Are you sure it’s not just a BIG muffin, nursemyra?
Good luck with the job, Teuchter! I thought it was supposed to be in Bristol.
So as I was just saying to Pipocas, I’m all showered and ready to be slit open. Not words you get to hear (or say) every day. About 4 1/2 hours to go…

I “should” be working.
As it happens, in the office of a colleague who is off recuperating from an Op (different scale from yours) but I’d rather be where I am than either of you. Had my share of operations.
In terms of chat, you asked ages ago about hosting a Spanish person in the UK (can’t remember the names right now). I wasn’t (and am not) able to help, but how did that go?

NO!!!!!!!!! Surely you could declare this a Strictly Come Dancing free zone, az? PLEEEEEEEZE?!?!?!?!

Sorry about that brunel slip. Are you in alabaster? If so, it could have been worse, it could have been a goo link. 😀

Will that include a Plan B, Pipocas? Nog (he’s back!) wants to know if it’s a real Work Plan or just a classic displacement activity.
I should think that everyone posting here from work isn’t really working too hard, TRiG.
Wait no longer, Puddock! 😛
That was for my friend Carmen’s niece, Johnny. Nothing came of it in the end. A shame, because a summer away would have been really good for her.
I have no idea what Strictly Come Dancing is.
I’m still shuddering, Bel.
Hmmm… getting hungry…

As far as strictly is – keep it that way.
I can’t stand the programme, and Mrs. BBJP and the little BBJPs can’t stand me not being able to stand it! I am banished from my own lounge when it’s on.

It’s really a Work Plan.
Regarding displacement activities, it’s been my observation that I accomplish much more work when I am avoiding work than when I’m actually working. For example, this Work Plan is really, really late… but in my procrastination I was able to clear my inbox and tend to all sorts of little tasks, avoiding the big one. There should be an expression for that, eh? Procrastinatory productivity?

But surely, if you do all your work first, the Work Plan is redundant?
It all reminds me of the many happy hours spent drawing up revision timetables before exams at school.

Revision timetables? I never even pretended to be that organised.
Now, if the look of the website fleadh2009.com changes completely in the next twenty minutes, that means I’ve done some work. If it doesn’t change, I haven’t. Right? (Ignore the content: that’s not my department.)

I sure wish this FAMILY would get out of here so I could at least relax properly for awhile. They’ve been “leaving” for the past two hours. Otherwise, as Nog has pointed out, the only time I’m going to get the room to myself is when I’m not here. 😕

TRiG, I don’t know how it looked before, so I can’t tell whether or not you’ve worked, but can’t you correct the grammar?

I’m having a fun day at work which involves analyising minutes of meetings over the past year, and doing a rather funky Excel chart. And playing Scrabble with you (isn’t everyone?) And reading The Post. And discussing Strictly (Shhhh!) And helping Rog set up a fundraising website for a charity bike ride Africa he’s doing. And inviting friends round for pizza and holiday snaps on Saturday. And measuring my calves for a pair of boots that actually fit.

FINALLY! The family decided to stay for lunch, even though the girl can only have broth and juice. The father came back from the cafeteria with huge bocadillos (filled rolls) and beer and spent the next half hour talking loudly with his mouth full. But they have just left and I can feel the tension draining from my neck and shoulders – and I haven’t even taken the PILL yet.
Also, Nog was offered a lunch tray since he has to wait around with me. Lamb stew, filet of pork in gravy (with one slice of mushroom), a bread roll and fruit purée. So he’s happy.

For non-Brits, Strictly Come Dancing is a TV show where celebrities learn to do ballroom and latin dances. For the sake of BBJP I will say no more….lips sealed now…

Sigh. Long night. I hope you’re awake (hmmm, maybe in an hour or two as it’s only 4 where you are) and not in too bad of shape. Thinking of you, and thinking of Greece and how to get you there. I was working with the travel guy, Theo, today. He lives in Crete, was on his way to Germany for something. Nice guy. He does all kinds of group arrangements with his agency, mostly toward hiking trips but also things for old farts like we mostly will be. Especially mom (if she happens to read this I am truly up shit creek).
I found Theo on the intarwebs, just like you. 🙂 And people wonder why I’m online alla time.

archiearchive FCD, I think there are rules about fire twirling in hospital waiting rooms but if you try to avoid setting the curtains ablaze no one will be any the wiser.
Whenever I hear about shows involving fire, I always think about the stripper a friend told me used to work at a club in Mimico, in Toronto, who used fire as part of her act.
Let’s just say that there was a bit of a brush fire one night at the club….
