Yes, it’s back, dammit. My old nemesis Heretofore Unidentified Abdominal Pain. Started on Sunday-Monday and has been getting progressively worse, though still not as bad as the previous episode (a quick search here tells me it was in October 2019 – you see, this blog does have its uses sometimes). Same place as always, starting in the “dodgy area” they keep CT scanning every six months (see lightning bolts) and radiating down to my hip bone. And now it’s getting to the point where it hurts when I breathe (and I can hardly stop doing that!) so I’m going to get in touch with oncology. I have a pending appointment with them but was waiting until I get the last blood test results to confirm it. Meanwhile… well, nothing. Just carrying on.
ouch (again)

So sorry to hear this but, until you get the appointment the best thing is to try not to worry (I KNOW!) and just do what you can when you feel well enough. Sending good thoughts.

I can’t help thinking this is myofascial, with the caveat that when you use a hammer a lot, everything looks like a nail, and myofascial pain is what I do. But the way it comes and goes. The likelihood that you have adhesions, possibly even to the diaphragm muscle. My oldest wicked-evil trigger point(s) date back to breaking my arm sixty years ago, and a decade later I was sure I had some kind of breast infection but nope, it was just a wicked distribution of pain because the doctors who set it and ordered the PT knew zip, nothing, about muscle stress and pain referral. Those fucking points are set in STONE. They drove me to my profession eventually, and years of getting bodywork meant I thought I’d never feel that pattern of pain again, but JESUS FUCK after open surgery in 2020 I came home from the hospital with the whole area screaming bloody murder and it periodically still does, even if I use my professional toolbox to wipe it out for a while. Getting cut on sets this kind of thing up.

I’ve had “blips” of this over the past couple of years, a bit of ouchiness for a couple of days, but this has now lasted almost a week and seems to be getting worse. The last CT scan confirmed there is still something dodgy going on there (lightning bolt area), but as usual no clear answers. I feel sure at least part of it is due to adhesions. I mean after massively cutting me open four times (from sternum to pubes 4x, side to side across belly button 2x) plus the hernia jutting out of my belly button, it’s a real mess down there.
