Enamórate de Sevilla (Fall In Love with Sevilla) is the name of the latest tasting menu being offered at Ispal (Grupo La Raza) created by their new chef Jorge Manfredi. I had been invited to try the original tasting menu when Ispal first opened in 2018 and while they have kept about 30% of the previous chef’s menu, the rest is new by Manfredi. Also new is a much expanded wine list, which now boasts over 400 Andalusian wines.
It’s a “kilometre 0” menu, with locally sourced products and reinterpreted dishes that are based on traditional Sevilliano recipes, and is divided into four parts: Vamos de Tapeo!, Vámanos a la Feria, Paseo por Sevilla and Desserts. We started off with a vermouth cocktail and had some wonderful wine pairings throughout.
The tasting menu is 59€ per person, 89€ with wine pairing and 109€ with the premium wine pairing. For more information have a look at their website. Photos of the meal below…

Grupo La Raza invited a group of us “usual suspects” to try out their Tastes of the World menu at brand new T-Raza (terraza) restaurant. The venue is impressive, with a cocktail bar at street level and a large terrace restaurant overlooking the river.
T-Raza will only be open during the summer months, but the space is available for private events throughout the year. You can see the menu below. I suspect I was the only one at our table who had actually tasted the original versions of these dishes (other than a poké bowl), and of course Caesar salad didn’t originate in Italy, but it was a fun evening a lovely time out.

Corpus Christi 2019 in Sevilla… as (almost) always I got out before the procession began and walked the route. It was a lovely fresh morning and I was happy I went out, though getting up was hard. No pics of the procession this year as I had stuff to do before Lizzie & Russell arrived (more on them later!) but there are altars galore. Pics below…

I was invited to the presentation of the book Ciencias de la Gastronomía by Almudena Villagas, which was held at the School of Hospitality. This was followed by some lovely snacks and wines (the latter from Montilla Moriles) overlooking the river. Fun meeting the author and seeing other friends there. I also bought a signed copy of the book to take home. Nice evening out. 🙂
