sunny at the beach

Sunny was born on August 5th 1993 between 10-11am.

Since I am away at the beach for his birthday – the first one I have ever missed! – I thought I’d show you this photo of Sunny “at the beach”, taken when he was about 10 months old. This was in my first apartment in Sevilla (across the street from where I live now), a very small studio apartment about the size of the living room at casa az. So I didn’t have a lot of storage space and that rascal Sunny used to love scratching open bags of cat litter, spreading it all over the floor, and then rolling around in it.

I just spoke to Chiara and she said that the boys are fine and that Sunny is taking his meds. But she didn’t know about Azar’s bendy paw and at first was worried that something had happened to him!  Anyhow, they are both doing fine and I am very happy to hear that, but I do miss them a lot. Somehow it doesn’t feel right to be missing Sunny’s birthday, but I’ll make it up to him with lots of extra snibbles when I get home.

málaga apartment

Nice, innit?

Imagine our delight yesterday when Nog & I got to the apartment and saw how lovely it was. First thing we checked out was the view from the terrace and found there were two: one of the port and another partial view of the sea. Very nice. I can listen to the waves as I sit here writing this out on the terrace after a two-hour siesta. Heaven.

The apartment is also BIG. At least, a lot bigger than casa az. There are three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a bright pretty kitchen with a little workroom off it and a huge living/dining room area. We’re on the top (13th) floor of the building so there is tons of light. And we’re about a ten-minute walk to the old town centre. It really doesn’t get much better than this.

And the price is right!  😉

It’s been just over two weeks since I wrote this post telling you all about my friend Manolo offering me the use of his beachfront apartment in Málaga in August. It’s been like waiting for Christmas but finally today is the day! Nog and I are going to leave just after lunch, catch the train at 3pm and should be at the apartment by 6 o’clock. In time to unpack and get settled in and then hit the streets early evening in search of tapas…

I find Sundays in Seville kind of sad somehow. All the shops are closed and the streets feel less alive. Though this summer I am grateful not to hear jackhammering and buzzsawing at 7am at least one day out of the week (construction on building next door). But I always feel a bit lost on a Sunday, like I don’t know what to do, where to go.

It started off as a typical morning yesterday, even when I heard Sunny horking up his breakfast (sometimes he gets piggy and eats too much too fast and it all comes right back up again). But then he came into my bedroom and looked like he was trying to poo on the floor! Without success. A few minutes later he tried this again in the livingroom and managed to squeeze out a couple of nuggets, but clearly something was wrong. When he came back onto the bed he was trying to clean his bottom but, as he can’t reach very well due to his big belly, he started madly licking the back of his tail. I went to get some moist paper towels to clean him up and saw to my horror that he was leaking from his butt and that  my sheets were stained with a rather smelly brown liquid. So it was off to the vet’s …
