So yay! I have got up to 6,000 followers on my Sevilla Tapas Instagram. Yeah I know, not exactly INFLUENCER numbers 😉 but I always like to celebrate a click over to the next K. I’m actually much more active on Insta and Twitter than I am on Facebook, so if you’re interested pop over and say hola.

It was fun listening to (and seeing) Carmen Aumesquet from the Sherry Council chatting with my lovely friend José Pizarro – in English! – about sherry and jamón and what José has been acheiving during lockdown. But I have a question, and it’s not about this live Instagram broadcast, it’s about all of the ones I’ve seen so far (which I’ve really been enjoying, btw). Why are all the names and comments from the viewers always covering the face of the guest? Shouldn’t it be the other way around, since the host is not the featured person. Just wondering.

I follow almost 1700 people on my @SevillaTapas Instagram account and, thanks to the odious algorithm, seldom see the people l want to see most in my TL. I end up having to hunt friends down when l notice l haven’t seen their posts for awhile, then sometimes catch up on 2-3 months of their photos. Not exactly the point of the platform, is it?
Anyhow, if you happen to see this and haven’t seen me in your Instagram TL for awhile… well, l post stuff there every day, and also on my personal account @azahar and my other biz account @welovetapas. Yet another social media connection. Cathy sent me an email a couple of weeks ago saying “I hope you don’t think this is weird but I’ve been wanting to message you for years but never got around to it and was a little intimidated.” She went on to say that she’d be back in Sevilla soon (she’s been here many times) and that she’d love to meet up. So today was the day.
We went to Bartolomea, a place I’d been meaning to go back to for awhile (so many bars, so little time…) and since Cathy is staying right above the bar it seemed like a good time. We had a fab lunch, and a few wines, and really hit it off. Afterwards we stopped in at VermuterÃa Yo Soy Tu Padre for a penúltima and to visit Esteban (my future husband 😉 ). Made tentative plans with Esteban and his friend Jota to do some Bodega Research over the next month or so, which is quite exciting for me. More on that later.
Anyhow, it was lovely meeting a new friend and possible future neighbour. Cathy will be back soon and also has plans to retire somewhere in AndalucÃa. Meanwhile we’ll stay in touch.
