I’m coming to the end of my chemo-free week off the meds. My plan had been to do something special every day and make the most of it. And now here it is Saturday and it’s hard to remember anything I’ve done that was special in itself. But today while I was walking around with Peter drinking an icy cold granizado de limón I realised that just being able to do that was the special thing, just like how last night we went out for a scoop of Häagan Dazs ice cream (at the new HD shop that has recently opened just five minutes from my house). When I think about how next week it’ll be back to drinking 40º room temperature water I am sooooo enjoying every icy cold minute I can.

And so tonight I’m making frozen cosmopolitans . . . 🙂

Last year I posted this video of Matt dancing his way around the world in 2006 and today I came across the 2008 version over at Puddock’s. Nice to see that Matt finally made it to Spain (the Plaza Mayor in Madrid).

Enjoy 🙂

I think I’m getting better at this; started off with ‘doing my best’.

Yesterday was my second chemo session (it was supposed to be on Monday but it was rescheduled for Tuesday) and it went much better than the first one. Well, it helped that I knew more about what to expect so I could do some chemo planning beforehand, though I didn’t get everything right . . .

I went to the supermarket with my friend (and new next door neighbour) ‘La J’ yesterday evening. As I was really missing Nog I thought about how strange it felt not to be there with him, about the countless times we’d been shopping at the supermarket together. Those little life routines.

And I was suddenly hit with the deepest sadness I’d ever known, far too deep for tears. Because I found myself wishing beyond reason, beyond hope, that I could ‘go back’ and have my old life back again. The one where I was healthy, before all this started. The one I had never appreciated enough.

I hope that you’re appreciating your today…
