After almost losing this beauty a couple of years ago it looks as if our 80+ year old magnolia is slowly on the mend. Still not returned back to its former glory, but getting better little by little.

So this is what led me to discover Cuadros Venecia the other day. My friend Reyes Morales had given me this fabulous print of her bar by local artist Alfredo Rodríguez and I needed to find a frame. Alfredo started his Fachadas de Sevilla & Co as something to keep him occupied during lockdown and now he has over 50 in the collection, which are available as hand signed limited releases. The detail here is amazing, as it is in all of his drawings. So this is now my second of the collection (I bought Casa Eme in 2020 after hearing he had shut for good). Below you can see some close ups of Casa Morales and a pic of the first sketch he made (swiped from Alfredo’s Instagram). I really love these.

Watched the much-touted ELVIS film today. Meh. But it moved me to look up the original video of this song that I had kind of forgotten about. Man, it’s powerful.

It’s Caturday and here is Morcilla admiring my newly framed print of Casa Morales by local artist (and vecino) @alfredorfz expertly framed by Cuadros Venecia. Thank you so much for the print Reyes Morales, I love it (and you!).

For the past week or so I’ve been looking forward to this day with both delight and dread because, although I love doing my food and wine tours, I’m also very aware that Covid is still a clear and present danger. Not that you’d know it from the way people are behaving and the fact that our government is only testing (some) over 60s with and have all but given up on any preventative measures. So now I will be meeting up with travellers who have been going all over the place maskless and for the most part not testing themselves. This is worrying. But I also have to pay my rent. I have been looking at other ways to make a living but, so far, nothing has panned out. Anyhow, wish me luck.
