sherry & tapas at t

sherry at t

So this is exciting! This past weekend I got together with brothers Ricardo & Javi, who run the fabulous Restaurante ConTenedor in Sevilla, to try a new venue for my Sherry & Tapas Tastings. You may recall they also opened a very unique space just over a year ago, simply called T, and this is where we held the event. There were six lovely people from the UK attending, all friends travelling together, who had initially asked me for a tapas tour. But as this is just not possible at the moment I suggested a sherry tasting and they went for it. And they were so lovely! I can’t tell you how good it felt to get “back in the saddle” again, after not having worked in almost 7 months. Well, if you can call it work. For me it’s always so much fun doing this (same with my tapas tours) that I can’t believe how lucky I am to have work I love so much.

Anyhow, this group was amazing, so inquisitive and open to anything, and the tasting went so well that I was keen on working out a way we could do more. Like me, Ricardo & Javi have been feeling the loss of tourism in the city, especially as a lot of their regular clientele tend to be visitors. So we have come up with this new offer and I couldn’t be more delighted. Luckily International Sherry Week is just around the corner and this gives us another platform to let the world know about us.

And so we now have Sherry & Tapas at T, which really is a unique sherry tasting experience. I first met Ricardo many years ago at ConTenedor, and later Javi when T first opened. But somehow if feels like we were meant for each other, kindred spirits. So wish us luck! 🙂

decanter malaga

My pal Dan @dan.jamon always sees my Decanter articles before I do. Saw this pic on his Instagram and now can’t wait to get my own copy. They usually send me one, so hopefully its on the way. Still waiting to find out if it’s also been published online. Originally this one was only supposed to be online, then they decided to publish it in the supplement of their October magazine. Yay! My fourth Decanter article. Hope there will be more. 🙂

Second time since lockdown, though my trusty calendar tells me that I dyed my hair back in mid-December, then didn’t do it again until mid-June (!!!) and now… well, today. Used to be I’d dye it every 2-3 months. So it was a bit of a shocker when I went six months without a touch-up. If my hair would go grey dramatically then I wouldn’t bother, but it ends up just looking like I FORGOT TO DYE MY HAIR. If it ever gets interesting-looking, for example going all white overnight, then I’ll just leave it.

Have only had one haircut since December too, in July, so I guess I’m due. But I almost can’t be bothered. Especially as I really hate spending time at the hairdresser (even though I quite like mine), which is also why I dye at home. It takes about half an hour, so quick and easy.

Last time I got my hair cut I asked Joaquín to just cut it and I’d let it dry naturally on the way home. Even though I was the only person in the salon I didn’t want him to be blow-drying droplets from previous clients all over my face. How’s your hair doing these days?

It was clear that something was up, and that something probably had something to do with DINNER. These two sat across from my while I was enjoying yet another episode of West Wing and just stared at me. I held firm because it wasn’t actually dinner time.

Then you can see there was a bit of a conference between them and they clearly decided to gang up on me and stare me down until I gave in. What can I say? They won, as always.
