It’s no secret that Morcilla is totally in charge over here at Casa Azahar. And probably never more so than in her role as my Purrsonal Assistant. She loves to jump up when I am seated at my desk, do a little walk around my shoulders and back (and across the rack) before settling down on my right shoulder, and then she starts purring like crazy and occasionally nuzzles my ear with her little nose and then I am dead. But what this also means is that I cannot get up from my desk while all this lovely stuff is going on, so I may as well keep on working. And she weighs next to nothing, so it’s like having a little love angel on my shoulder (though I sometimes have to rearrange where she is sticking her claws in, easier in winter).

But I mean… just look at her. So sure of herself, so content looking out the open balcony doors from her cuddly perch. My sweet girl.

What an idiot. Last week I placed an order for some new M&S high-leg cotton knickers, same ones I’ve been buying forever because I just cannot find comfy knickers like this in Sevilla. I’d noticed that some of mine were ready to go to knicker heaven, and that prompted me to place this order. They arrived, got washed, and then got piled into my mess of a closet. Whatever. Fine. EXCEPT today I decided to clean out that closet and also my bedroom chest of drawers and … omg! I found tons of knickers I didn’t even know I had! I have just kept taking the ones off the top of the pile without realising there were knickers galore lurking below them. This is in part because I have the worst designed bedroom closets ever and, gotta admit, I’m a bit lazy about keeping them organised. So anyhow… looks like I’m set knicker-wise for some time to come. Next up is a closet full of clothes I haven’t looked at in almost two years. I plan on being ruthless.

royalty Julio, Reyes & Pepe

Further to Monday’s “judge not lest ye be judged” post… I am thrilled to tell you that this one is nothing like it! And since it’s not often something like what happened the other day happens to me I thought I’d share. This actually took place on Monday while I was at Casa Morales organising the final touches for my first Sevilla Sherry Tasting of the year. I went there with Peter to try out a couple of pairings and Reyes was there, so she joined us. Then Pepe, the owner of La Fresquita, stopped by to say hello, and Julio Revilla also stopped by but also ended up joining us.

I first met Julio many years ago at an event where we ended up sitting together at the same table, so we got to know each other a bit. At the time he was the president of the Concorcio del Jabugo but these days he has returned to “simply” producing some of the best jamón and other Ibérico de Bellota products in the world, Sierra Mayor, which includes a Guiness record breaking jamón that sold for 12,000 euros. But I digress.
