Two absolute sherry pleasures this trip to Jerez… revisiting Bodegas Urium and being educated and entertained by the inimitable Alonso Ruíz @alonsourium, who runs this incredible winery with his daughter Rocio @RocioUrium. And the next day a new discovery for me, and a private visit to Bodegas Faustino González to sample their pure “en rama” range called Cruz Vieja @cruzviejajerez. It was great to be inside sherry bodegas again, and sharing amazing experiences with people who are so passionate about what they do. It was also great seeing so many friends again. A few vids…

One of the highlights of my London trip was Lizzie coming into town from Bristol to spend Tuesday with me. Last time I saw her was almost five years ago, but it was like no time had passed at all. We met at my friend José Pizarro’s newest tapas restaurant in Broadgate Circle (he has two others near Borough Market). Now I wouldn’t ordinarily go out for tapas in London, but I’ve been dying to see José’s places for years, and finally I got the chance.
Anyhow, Lizzie and I had a fabulous long lunch with mucho vino and then went down to Oxford Street to do a little Drunk Shopping. Later on we made our way over to Spitalfields Market for a late snack at Nuno Mendez’s new Portuguese restaurant, Taberna do Mercado. Far too soon our day together was over and it was so hard to say goodbye. And I still can’t believe that the only photo I took of Lizzie was one of her falling sideways into a plate of pão de ló. Ah well. We made a lot of great memories.
