For some reason Istanbul has been coming up on Twitter and in other conversations lately, and I find myself filled with a longing to visit, though my heart is also drawn to places I’ve already been to like Lisbon, Tangier, London…
So just for the heck of it, here are my top five dream destinations of places I’ve not yet been, in no particular order:

What a week it’s been! I got back from my holiday in Málaga on Sunday evening and was quite looking forward to a tapas tour that had been booked for the next evening. Little did I know that Simon, Clare and Joe were about to become good friends. The tour started off pleasantly and we were all having such a good time by the time it finished that we ended up at my favourite rooftop bar having a few drinks …

So, who wants to come to Sevilla?
Some of you may recall that, just before I got sick, I tried organising a blogfriends meet here, which for obvious reasons never got off the ground. But a recent comment by Toybox made me think that it might be a good idea to try this again, especially as there are more and more cheap flights to Sevilla. And, depending on how many people come, I could find a nice inexpensive apartment for everyone to share. It also seems like a nice way of celebrating the mid-way point of my “six month reprieve” and I think it would be a very pleasant weekend getaway.
Sometime late September to mid-October would be a good time as the weather should still be quite nice and not too hot, but really it would just depend on when people can make it. So I’m hopping the train to Málaga this morning…
I always get a bit nervous before a trip, even a short one like this. I guess because I don’t do it very often. But this time I am taking the bare minimum since it will probably be just overnight (slight chance of staying until Saturday). It’s kind of nice travelling so light. Well, except for Shadow, who is rather heavy. But I couldn’t leave home without him.
And I was thinking how travelling by train is my favourite way to go. Planes terrify me, buses make me sick, cars are okay in that you can stop whenever you want … but for straight A-to-B travel I really think trains are the best. And notice I didn’t even mention boats.
