caturday march 19 2022

Here’s Loki and Luna trying to strong arm flat mate Peter into giving them an early dinner. As you can see, Morcilla is above such brutish behaviour.

not covid

Got hit by (what I hoped was) that stomach bug going around. After a gawd awful night violently losing it from both ends I spent almost 18 hours in bed. Then a brief attempt at staying upright and I was back under the duvet. That went on for another night and then… some relief. Took the test and that was also a relief, but I had to pass on my evening tapas tour to José. I’ll do another test after the weekend but hopefully I’m on the mend. These days covid has so many possible symptoms it’s good to play it safe.

There hasn’t been much sunshine this week but the new shoe rack thingy in the hallway gives Morcilla a perfect spot to catch the rays when they show up. As well as a chance to pose. 🧡🐈‍⬛

drains

Had to go to get fingerprinted today in order to replace my lost residency card and, just like the other times since chemo, there were no fingerprints to be found. I think finally they found enough of one to go with – I’ll find out when I go to pick up the new card in 40 days time. Since so much of the residency process can be done online now it was so much smoother than the dreaded old days when you would show up and queue up, only to be told that you were missing form this or that. Now you can actually book an appointment and there are INFORMATION PAGES online telling you what you need to have with you. Amazing.

The immigration office is inside the very splendid Plaza de España and a grey rainy afternoon was brightened by noticing that even the goddamn drain spouts there are beautiful. I love my city. 💙

calima

Calima is an atmospheric phenomenon that happens when Sahara sand drifts over to Spain, leaving the skies an eerie orange hue and affecting air quality. When accompanied by rainfall it becomes lluvia de barro (muddy rain) and the dust and sand particles are dragged down to earth, covering every possible surface. Good idea to stay in. And watch out for zombies.
