bear hug

This photo is for Anneke.  Yes, the bear hugs are wonderful.  🙂

And that was my last one (until next time) taken at 8.45 this morning when the airport bus pulled up.  Luckily Nog was there to hug me after it drove away because I suddenly couldn’t stop crying. I’m really really bad at goodbyes. But we made lots of very happy memories this past week. And tomorrow Craig will be meeting up with Sara & Steve in London for a few beers. They’ve never met before but I’m sure they’ll have plenty of Sevilla stories to swap and, I don’t know, it gives me a nice feeling to think that some of my favourite people will be out enjoying each other’s company tomorrow.

So, it’s back to REALITY. Got to clean up the joint and go out for my daily walk. It just feels a bit sad and empty knowing that I won’t be seeing the zoomster later on today. *sigh*  😦

Here are some ‘last lunch’ memories from Yebra below . . .

(it’s gonna be green tea & broccoli from now on)

Well, maybe one day I’ll get some photos of Cádiz with blue skies … but we were actually quite lucky with the weather, as far as rainy days go.  The first rain shower happened just before lunch, which put the kibosh on our original plan to eat at the same beachside restaurant Nog & I had gone to three years ago. But as a result we happened upon Casa Tino near the market and had a delightful selection of tapas there. When the second rain shower hit we took shelter in an Irish pub, which was all decked out for Halloween, and consumed both Irish coffee and Irish whisky before lurching to the station to catch our train.  But other than that the weather was very pleasant and the company was even better.

We had a great day!

The plan had been to go to Córdoba on Friday…

But then the weather forecast started looking very iffy for the weekend. And so yesterday morning around 9am I was having coffee in bed and playing online scrabble. Looking out the bedroom window I saw a gorgeous sunshiny morning out there, so I half-jokingly sent an email to Pipocas saying it was a shame we couldn’t go to Córdoba now as the weather looked perfect and Nog didn’t have any classes until the evening. She called back and asked  – “are you serious?” – then called back five minutes later to say WE WERE GO! Forty minutes later we were all showered, dressed and at our meeting point.

It was a wonderful day.

Road trip (part II) – Saturday 18th October

The next morning we both woke up around 7am, very surprised (and pleased) that we hadn’t woken up during the night … turns out that neither Susan or I sleep a lot.  As it was still early and the sun hadn’t come up yet, we enjoyed more time just chatting in the dark … man, I loved that! But eventually it got light and we were in serious need of coffee, so we got up and headed out in search of brekky…

Road trip (part I) – Friday 17th October

The only plan for the entire trip was that at some point we had to get to Gibraltar so I could stock up on underwear and socks at Marks & Spencer. Other than that, Susan and I were free agents.  Though we also had to consider the weather. The forecast said it was going to be sunny on Friday and rainy on Saturday, so we weren’t sure if it might be better to do shopping and fish & chip eating as rainy day activities. . .
