Two and half years ago when I bought Manzana (my first ever iPad) I was thrilled to pieces. And I still use him a lot, but always at home, or in a hotel room when travelling. Turns out that the iPad is just a bit too big and heavy to be as mobile as I thought it was going to be. I think even the iPad Air would feel too big for just carrying around in my bag. And so today I realised a long-standing geeky dream and bought an iPad mini.

Meet Manzanilla. She’s super thin and has a fab retina screen, and now also has a rather smart red “smart cover”. And she doesn’t seem to weigh any more than my iPhone (weird). Anyhow, perfect timing as I am off to Sanlúcar de Barrameda tomorrow for a bit more travel and sherry research. Quite excited to see how Manzanilla travels.

Behold my new Facebook business page for Sevilla Tapas! Thing is, shortly after starting up this page as a personal profile almost seven years ago I realised I had “oopsed” and it should have been what was then known as a Fan Page. Awhile later I did start up a page and tried to get all my “Friends” to shift over, but nobody did, so I kept on with my illicit Sevilla Tapas Profile Page. Until today. I saw somewhere that in the past year Facebook made it possible to “migrate” from profile to biz page without losing “Friends”. But this didn’t include content. Which in my case meant five years of content that I’d lose. But I decided what the hell and did the migration this morning, maintaining over 5000 followers and losing all my posts. I don’t think that actually matters since I don’t think people really look through the history of a page. Better to have the followers. And so if you haven’t “liked” Sevilla Tapas yet, go right ahead…

pippim IIIMeet Pippin III … my third iPhone.

After much hemming and hawing and traipsing back and forth between the two main mobile phone/internet stores here, I finally picked up my new iPhone 5S last night. Also named Pippin. And with the most beautiful screen lock photo ever…

Things didn’t go so smoothly with the set-up as the guy helping me with this in the store ran out of time and patience (apparently I had too much stuff for him to transfer) and I was told I could just log into iTunes and transfer all the info from there. Except it turns out I mustn’t have saved things there like I thought I had. So today I’ve been restoring apps one by one and lamenting that I’ve lost ALL my messages. But whatever. The new phone looks and feels great. Very sleek and chic. I’m very interested to find out what I can do with the new improved camera (though the one on my old iPhone 4 was fabulous). Still not sure what to do with my old iPhone. I didn’t turn it in because what with this and that I would’ve only got 39 euros for it, and I could easily sell it for more than that if I wanted to. But I’m not even sure I want to do that. Might just keep it as a back-up. But I should probably lay off the retail therapy for awhile…

So remember when I went to the Copa Jerez (Sherry Cup) last week? Well, there was also a Twitter competition that day, with the Sherry Academy saying that whoever tweeted the most using the “official hashtags” could win a prize. Well, you know me. I tweet the shit outta everything when I’m at an event. And so I won this! I hardly know where to begin. Though I think I might actually host a sherry-pairing dinner party…
