thanks

Just wanted to say thanks again to those of you who are continuing to send donations. As I am still struggling to find enough work, this has really been helping me out and is very much appreciated.

Also thanks to everyone who continues to visit here and keep me company, which provides much needed emotional support that really makes my day and helps me keep going.

Love you guys!

stosland 1
So there I was yesterday morning … had just finished my FIRST NEW CLASS with a very charming friend of Agustín’s, and was working on my friend Lizzie’s new Twitter page for her fabulous Folk House Cafe & Bar in Bristol, when the doorbell rang and the postman said he had a package for me. I had no idea what it might be and was really taken by surprise when I saw it was from one of my oldest & dearest friends from Toronto, Darlene – and also her beautiful daughter Adrienne. So I opened it up and saw it was a whole whack of small blue-ribboned prezzies wrapped in yellow tissue paper, with good old Halloween kisses used for filler. It was hard not to cry, so I did. But you know, happy tears. I’d talked with Darlene on Skype during the summer, and just this week was thinking that I should send her a quick email so she’d know I was still thinking about her – and it turned out she’d also been thinking about me! Anyhow, if you want to see what was in the little packets, have a look below…

what colour is your love?

Your Love is Green

When you love someone, it’s a very rational process. You love with your head first.

Love is all about fitting a person into your life. You can’t love unless the situation is just right.

You are an ideal partner in romantic relationships. You try to be as caring, loyal, and forgiving as possible.

You take love seriously, and you don’t give up on a commitment. You don’t need a ring to stay with someone through thick and thin.

celebration

becerrita(click on pic to enlarge)

On this week’s A Day at the Hospital post I told you that something wonderful had happened and that Nog and I went out to celebrate. Later I told you the reason for celebrating, but I never told you what we did. By the time we left the hospital that day it was almost 2 o’clock and, since I knew I had some extra cash, I decided it was high time I treated Nog to a tapa snack as he has been treating me since I got sick and haven’t been able to work.

And so we took the bus over to Becerrita and had a lovely tapa lunch. Calamares, lamb in honey sauce, potato croquettes and pork tenderloin with wild mushrooms. Then a nice walk home while I thought about the email I was going to send “Bob” that evening.

To be honest, every day has been a celebration since I was given the amazingly fabulous gift of a month to heal. It’s really changed my life and I am suddenly appreciating all the “little things” so much more. I guess I’d been feeling kind of hopeless and at the end of my rope, and so being given this chance to do things the way I feel I need to in order to get better ended up starting a whole series of positive changes. Still taking baby steps, but doing a little every day.

Having hope again is a wonderful thing.

race for life

My friend Sara (happily owned by those two wee rapscallions Foley & Murphy) did the central London Race for Life with her mum this past weekend. Considering that she just finished treatment this past January I think this was quite an accomplishment. It also brought happy tears to my eyes when media naranja Steve sent me this photo yesterday saying, “this picture is just to let you know you are in our thoughts, and that you are not alone, no matter what”. For every so-called friend or family member who has dumped me over the past year, this really makes up for it.

Thanks Sara & Steve. That really made my day.

They were running for life up in Oirland as well.
Here’s a video of h2g2 pal Beatrice doing her part…

Well done, girlfriends!
