butter (1)

Someone on Twitter mentioned butter dishes the other day and l found myself wondering why l didn’t have one. Well now l do (thank you winter sales!). And hello toast! 🍞

Wasn’t easy finding a butter dish here, reckon it’s not standard equipment in a Spanish kitchen. Also will be useless June-September. But I am happy for now. 🙂

comfort

So yeah I know,  I said that one of the “good things” about lockdown and, in my case, continuing to shelter, was that I didn’t have to spend money on new summer clothes or sandals this year (and this may continue into the winter). BUT, I still need comfy clothes to wear around the house, since that is mostly where I am. And so I’ve found a few things online (and on sale!), mostly at M&S. A couple of cotton summer nightgowns, knickers… and these totally comfortable crop top bras. I was actually looking for bralettes but they don’t seem to make them in my size, so for at-home wearing these are perfect. Just got them today and well, there’s no going back. I mean, I wouldn’t be able to wear them out but I should have been buying these years ago.

What covid comfort stuff have you been buying?

Gotta say that the coronavirus has cut down on general spending. Like, I didn’t need to buy any new summer clothes or sandals this year, and it’s looking like it will be the same for winter. Which is a good thing because not only was I disqualified from receiving the government assistance extension (July-Sept) for self-employed people, but it turns out I’m also not eligible for the 400€ a month “basic income” allowance.

I am so fucked.

And so why not buy totally unnecessary kitchen utensils because they are orange and cute? Okay, not totally unnecessary because my only spatula broke a couple of months ago, and I’ve never had a skimmer, so sue me. I got them both for a tenner as they were 20% off and this made me happy.

Anyhow, haven’t mentioned any of this to the cats. They still think their lives are safe and secure and never worry about their next meal or that they may lose their home. This also makes me happy. Keeping them safe. What’s making you happy these days?

Victorio & Lucchino Agua Nº 1 Azahar

Yeah, I know I’m supposed to be cutting back on spending, but this was on sale (11 euros!) and I couldn’t resist. It’s actually been rebranded since this photo and is called Azahar Radiante, so I didn’t realise until I got home that it was more complex than that. Basically the bergamot hits you first, then you smell the orange blossom, followed by a background note of patchouli. Now I understand why I couldn’t resist this – turns out to be three of my favourite smells ever. Well, I didn’t know that patchouli was one of my favourites until a few years ago when a sommelier took a sniff of me as I walked into his wine shop and said … patchouli! Say what? Apparentlly it’s one of the ingredients in my signature Clinique Elixir perfume. Seriously, I get so many compliments on Elixir that I worry I may have put too much on, but no. It’s just quite distinctive and apparently I wear it well.

Anyhow, I wasn’t actually looking for another scent for my body (tear my Elixir from my cold dead hands!), more something I could spritz around the house, escpecially in winter with all the balcony doors shut, in order to bring a bit of springtime indoors. And wow, is this wonderful. A spritz or two and suddenly it smells like heaven at home, and it lingers just long enough.

So I went Christmas, Reyes Magos and Birthday shopping today… all for me! I had suddenly run out of both my Clinique Elixir perfume and Clinique moisturizer – eek! – and had to re-stock. While I was at it I also got a travel-sized tube of the moisturizer, and would have also bought a smaller perfume for travelling (I’m out of that too), but they were sold out of the latter. Anyhow, a good haul and all was on sale. Yay.  🙂
