It’s International Croquette Day! These are just a few of the delicious croquetas I’ve enjoyed over the past year. And yes, there were a few duds too (not pictured). For me croquetas are a litmus test for the quality of a tapas bar. Which reminds me that I haven’t made any for quite some time. That ought to keep me busy for a couple of afternoons. I’ve had this oil-filled electric radiator for over 15 years now. It was a gift when I was living in my old place with no heating in barrio Santa Cruz. I don’t use it much any more, but on extra cold days like now I pull it over to my comfy chair for some extra warmth and cosiness. Of course I then have to pull up a couple of seats for the cats (Morcilla sits on my lap). And then I have to keep stopping them from climbing on top of the thing. Honestly , the fun never stops around here. How are you keeping warm?

Here they are, the Christmas hangover restrictions for the next two weeks. Meanwhile the new Covid strain, which is supposedly 70% more contagious, is still being taken around AndalucÃa by people who insist on having “their old lives back” and taking non-essential trips. At least they’ve closed the regional borders again. Also a shout out to those people who have to go out and about town every single day, cramming into shops and bars. What the fuck is wrong with you? These next two weeks are going to be very telling in terms of new cases and deaths. I’ll be spending them mostly at home, as I have been doing since, um… March?
