I have to say that this summer is going so much better than the last two. Not only for the obvious reason of this being the first summer in three years that I haven’t been on chemo, but also because of summer jobs and work projects. First off, Nog has got a gig this month teaching a couple of intensive English classes at the language school across the street which – fingers crossed! – might also mean work in August, and perhaps a steady part-time position afterwards. This takes a whole lot of stress off of me as it means Nog will be able to pay his share of the rent & bills, at least in July. Meanwhile, my long-time student, good friend and GP Agustín has continued with his once a week English classes this month. He has always taken a “time out” from July-September and so I reckon these are kind of sympathy classes, but what the heck – I’ll take em! And I am continuing with my social media part-time job, which I am LOVING. Which for me sums up all the paid work I am doing, however…

The boys have realised that tiles are a bit cooler than hardwood.
Though only somewhat. My goodness but it is HOT around here these days. The official temperature may say it’s “only” 40º, but that ends up being about five degrees hotter in the centre of town. It’s absurd weather.
But at least I don’t have to wear a fur coat. These two have really gone all floppy, as you can see. And I’ll have you know that the bathroom floor had just been washed! All smudges are courtesy of Loki who cannot just drink out of a water bowl – he has to dip his paws in and splash water all around the damn place and then walk in it. He also pushes the livingroom water bowl around with his nose. Weirdo.
Oh, and check it out. At just seven months old Loki is now officially bigger than Azar. And he’s still growing!

Ever since my oncology appointment on May 24th I’ve been waiting to hear when my next PET scan will be. I’d been told it was going to be sometime during the first half of June and, frankly, I’ve been a nervous wreck all month. Then on Friday one of The Team told me the PET would definitely be this week and the hospital would call me on Monday (yesterday) to confirm. And well, they did call. But I was told my PET would be on Monday June28th. Two whole weeks away. Which I suppose won’t make much difference in terms of my health (if there are tumours it’s doubtful they will grow significantly in two weeks) … but dammit. I’ve been trying to get my work organised and the summer planned and had hoped to know at the beginning of June whether I was going to have a cancer-&-chemo-free summer.
Now I won’t know until July.
This sucks.
