I’ve first met Lizzie in Bristol when we were both working at her brother’s (in)famous tapas bar Rocinantes, back in 1992. Since then she’s been to Sevilla a couple of times (the last time almost 20 years ago!), but I have also seen her since then, once in Bristol and another time in London. In the meantime she married the lovely Russell and so I was thrilled when Lizzie told me they’d be coming to Sevilla for a visit. We’ve been having a blast, though I fear they may be leading me astray…   😉

Corpus Christi 2019 in Sevilla… as (almost) always I got out before the procession began and walked the route. It was a lovely fresh morning and I was happy I went out, though getting up was hard. No pics of the procession this year as I had stuff to do before Lizzie & Russell arrived (more on them later!) but there are altars galore. Pics below…

I was invited to the presentation of the book Ciencias de la Gastronomía by Almudena Villagas, which was held at the School of Hospitality. This was followed by some lovely snacks and wines (the latter from Montilla Moriles) overlooking the river. Fun meeting the author and seeing other friends there. I also bought a signed copy of the book to take home. Nice evening out.  🙂

Great catching up with Aldara today, and also meeting her friend María. Both are working on new ventures, as am I, so it was fun to get together, share ideas and have some tapitas.

About a million years ago (okay, maybe 12?) I was a member of a travel forum called SlowTrav and got to “meet” a lot of interesting people there. The forum has since moved on, but I stay in touch with some of the old SlowTrav people via Twitter and Instagram, one of whom is Kathy @trekcapri. She’s been in Portugal with another SlowTrav alumni, and now she’s here in Sevilla, with her sister and brother in law. So today we met for a lovely seafood lunch at La Barra de Inchausti. As you can see, everyone had a great time. They are here for a week so we plan to meet up again.
