Squeaked in with two hours to spare last night, meeting my first SimonSeeks deadline. Got all 25 hotels up and, although there will probably still be a bit of tweaking to do (waiting to hear back from my editor), the first leg is finished and I can breathe a sigh of relief. Also very importantly – I can now send in my first invoice!
Two more deadlines to go: November 5th for restaurants and November 26th for all remaining copy (museums, attractions, nightlife, shopping, etc). Anyhow, check out the hotels page and let me know what you think – feedback, constructive criticism and suggestions are most welcome.

As you all know, I don’t get to travel much, and certainly not nearly enough as I’d like to. But the other day I got to take a “day trip” to a beautiful hotel (with the longest name ever – try tweeting that several times a day!). The hotel Las Casas del Rey de Baeza is part of a chain called Hospes Hotels, but they are a very exclusive chain of luxury hotels, most (all?) of which are restored palaces. I have to say that it was interesting to see – and experience – how the other half lives…

Just home from a fabulous 24-hour getaway with Nog at the gorgeous Hospes Casas del Rey del Baeza – yet another wonderful thing that has happened to me because of that “useless waste of time” Twitter. Anyhow, am going through the 156 photos I took and trying to write up a proper report of my visit before this evening’s Tapas Tour, but here is just a taste of it. Meanwhile, you can check my tweets from yesterday on my SevillaTapas and SevilleExpert Twitter streams that also link to iPhone pics I took. We had a great time.
When and where was your last getaway?

Since getting back from London late Monday night it’s been a very busy week doing research for my SimonSeeks hotel page and then getting the writing and photos done – still have eight more to go, which should be quite doable by my deadline. Aside from that I had some sad news regarding a tapas tour someone had booked as a 10th anniversary surprise for his wife (along with tickets for yesterday’s U2 concert) … all of which was ruined by the stupid fecking general strike on Wednesday when this guy found out all flights had been cancelled. I actually cried when I got his email because I remembered his previous ones and how excited he was about doing something so sweet and special for his wife. Anyhow, I tried to help him sell his tickets (no luck) and will return his 50% deposit – this is usually non-refundable but considering the circumstances it’s the least I can do. As a result of all this I was free on Wednesday evening to meet up with Australian travel writer Shaney Hudson and her Dutch boyfriend Chris (both now living in Rotterdam) and we made a night of it…
