You can always tell it’s officially summer in Sevilla because I start drinking beer.
And the colder the better (especially if it’s Cruzcampo!).

Years and years ago (about 1993?) when I first visited Madrid I remember being charmed by the neon lights in Puerta del Sol and especially the Tío Pepe sign (long before I knew I would become a fan of this particular wine). Anyhow, when Apple took over the building where this iconic sign had stood for something like forty years, and did extensive renovations, Bodegas Gonzalez Byass had to look for a new home for its beloved Tío Pepe. Which ended up being just across the square and, after a three-year absence, was reinstalled this spring. It was one of the first “sights” I looked for when I got into town.
So much going on that I will only be sending postcards from Madrid this week…

Having a great time in Antequera so far! I didn’t realise that it is considered to be kilometre 0 – or the dead centre – of all Andalucía. I say “considered” because if you look at that map you’ll see that it’s centrally located east-to-west but not north-to-south. Hmmm…
Anyhow, this is me standing in the centre of Andalucía! More later…

It’s not often I post a photo of myself online but this was such a “feel good” moment that Peter happened to capture at the end of a Sevilla Tapas Tour that I decided not to worry about all my chins showing. I really do have one of the best jobs in the world. 🙂
