Since I moved to the present Casa Azahar, and downsized (including getting rid of about 80% of my books), I am being very selective about any new book purchases. But I couldn’t resist this one, written by César Saldaña, the president of the Regulatory Council Sherry Academy (and one of my teachers during the Sherry Educator course I took in 2015). So this arrived today and, although I’m just a few pages in, I can already tell it’s going to be a profound and enjoyable experience. ¡Salud! 🥂

The other night I went down a twitter rabbit hole in the wee hours and ended up listening to Classical Gas by Mason Williams, which came out when I was 11. I remember seeing it on the Smothers Brothers show and loving it. And then suddenly it was everywhere. It’s quite Spanishy, isn’t it?

Got a bit sidetracked on my way to see the Procesión Fluvial of the Virgen del Carmen… by these guys! I mean. They were just asking for it standing outside the FIVE STAR Hotel Mélia Colón at the end of my street. Later I posted it on Twitter and pal Sarah did a great take on this, making it timeless…

The Velá de Santa Ana officially starts tomorrow but tonight the Virgen del Carmen sets out on a short excursion down the river before making her way – back on land – to her home. And in almost 30 years in Sevilla (anniversary coming up in September) I have never witnessed this. Well folks, tonight is the night. Stay tuned…
