livingroom
Nice, innit?

Imagine our delight yesterday when Nog & I got to the apartment and saw how lovely it was. First thing we checked out was the view from the terrace and found there were two: one of the port and another partial view of the sea. Very nice. I can listen to the waves as I sit here writing this out on the terrace after a two-hour siesta. Heaven.

The apartment is also BIG. At least, a lot bigger than casa az. There are three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a bright pretty kitchen with a little workroom off it and a huge living/dining room area. We’re on the top (13th) floor of the building so there is tons of light. And we’re about a ten-minute walk to the old town centre. It really doesn’t get much better than this.

And the price is right!  😉

dongleComing  to you live from Málaga via dongle!

Imagine my shock and horror surprise when Manolo informed me the other day that his apartment in Málaga didn’t have internet. Well okay, I’d half expected this to be the case as he only spends occasional weekends here, but there I  was left with just a few short days to find a solution. Because my whole “being on holiday” image included me sitting on the apartment terrace, looking out at the Mediterranean and listening to the waves, with a cold beverage , a good book, and Shadow at hand. And so I went of in search of a dongle …

my smoothie

Look what I found on Saturday!

I was actually looking for harissa paste in the gourmet shop at Corte Inglés (no luck) when I spotted these drinks in one of the coolers. One is mostly blueberry, the other acai berry. Have only tasted the former so far and it’s delicious. So I’m going to start alternating these with my blueberry & yoghurt smoothies in order to maintain a good daily level of antioxidants in my diet. Other diet changes will be coming in August, once I am done with the chemo. The drinks are kind of expensive, but so are fresh blueberries (cannot find frozen ones here at all).

blueberries

I reckon I’m worth it.  🙂

scarred for life

my scars

Meant to post a follow up to the original scar post ages ago. I forgot to take a photo after the second op, so this one includes both second and third op scars, as well as the one for my port (the little one just there above my bra). Once again modesty prevents me from showing you the entire extent of the scars, but the vertical one goes right down to the pubes and the side one is a big J-shape that extends just past where the side seam on a shirt would be. The two horizontal scars are kind of on top of each other, but the second one also continues past the centre line for about three inches (bit hard to see in this pic).

The area where the horizontal and vertical scars meet is still causing me problems. Apparently I still have a lot of inflammation there, as well as where the original join was made in the colon after the emergency resection (first op). So there you have it. I’m not really bothered about having scars. I just hope I won’t need to get any more…

forgiveness

“To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.”
~ Lewis B. Smedes

Mudhooks posted that quote on Twitter this morning and it really resonated. With my personal history of family violence and abuse as a child I am left with a lot of trust issues even after all these years, which is probably not surprising.  And so I got to thinking about how crap I am at actually forgiving people.  And then I wondered if forgiveness is always the best policy. I know that harbouring grudges does no good, but does one always have to forgive in order not to feel bitter or resentful about a past breach of trust? Does everyone actually deserve to be forgiven? Is it possible to truly forgive and forget?

What are your thoughts on forgiveness?
