Pipocas dragged me out of the house yesterday afternoon for art and burgers. I wasn’t sure if I was up to it as the op was just over a week ago and I’m still in a fair bit of pain and discomfort. But as the weather forecast was calling for RAIN until next Tuesday, I thought I’d better try and get out. And it really was worth the effort. . .

It’s been another pre-op special lunch week. First Pipocas invited me out to a new place (for us) called Oporto and we had a wonderful meal. Then Nog took me out for a tapa snack at one of our favourite places, Enrique Becerra (scroll down to photos 42-44) and the boys there treated us to drinks and a tapa as well as hugging me and saying they’ll see me in December. So I was feeling quite nicely spoiled.
And so yesterday I * decided to spoil Nog a bit and take him to a Mexican place called La Chaparrita that we’ve been wanting to try, ever since my friend Judy recommended it a couple of months ago. Nog had never had Mexican food before (well, other than the stuff I make at home) so we ordered a special menu for two that came with a selection of various dishes. And he loved it. We cycled there and walked back and it was indeed a very pleasant afternoon.
* of course when I say “I” treated Nog I mean “you guys” did (you know who you are) as I had to use donation money to take us out. And so, just wanted to thank you for a fab lunch and a special treat. Especially as it’s going to be broccoli & green tea at home for the next couple of days and for who-knows-how-long after I get home from hospital.

My, doesn’t this look healthy!
Yep, I’m ‘going green’ this week in an attempt to help prepare my poor old bod for the upcoming major surgery (third one since May) in which they will slice & dice my liver and maybe hack off bits of my peritonaea. I really should have had that zipper installed. I’m assuming they will just reopen the scar from the last op, otherwise my middle section is going to start looking like a road map. Perhaps I should take another scar shot before I go in so I can have before & after pics …
Anyhow, I feel quite positive about doing a healthy ‘detox’ week and I’m hoping that it will mean less hospital time if I go in feeling physically strong. So it’ll be mostly low fat meals this week with lots of veg (especially broccoli), and I’ll also start making my fruit purée again. Plus I’ll keep taking daily walks and riding the dreaded exercise bike. AND I’ll be drinking lots of green tea (with the occasional glass of 
which is, according to the Anti-cancer book that healingmagichands sent me, a natural anti-inflammatory).
Right, time to get cooking …

And that was my last one (until next time) taken at 8.45 this morning when the airport bus pulled up. Luckily Nog was there to hug me after it drove away because I suddenly couldn’t stop crying. I’m really really bad at goodbyes. But we made lots of very happy memories this past week. And tomorrow Craig will be meeting up with Sara & Steve in London for a few beers. They’ve never met before but I’m sure they’ll have plenty of Sevilla stories to swap and, I don’t know, it gives me a nice feeling to think that some of my favourite people will be out enjoying each other’s company tomorrow.
So, it’s back to REALITY. Got to clean up the joint and go out for my daily walk. It just feels a bit sad and empty knowing that I won’t be seeing the zoomster later on today. *sigh* 😦

Well, maybe one day I’ll get some photos of Cádiz with blue skies … but we were actually quite lucky with the weather, as far as rainy days go. The first rain shower happened just before lunch, which put the kibosh on our original plan to eat at the same beachside restaurant Nog & I had gone to three years ago. But as a result we happened upon Casa Tino near the market and had a delightful selection of tapas there. When the second rain shower hit we took shelter in an Irish pub, which was all decked out for Halloween, and consumed both Irish coffee and Irish whisky before lurching to the station to catch our train. But other than that the weather was very pleasant and the company was even better.
We had a great day!
