Twitter strikes again! My pal Rachel @R_McCormack put me in touch with Pritesh @luvfoodluvdrink and Tareena @TareenaMakeUp when she saw them looking for some Sevilla info on Twitter. I was booked with tours all week but sent them a nice list of fab tapas bars to try out. Then on their last day in town we met up for a quick tapeo, which left me with two new lovely London friends (who may end up becoming lovely Spain friends). I hope so!

Spent a bit of time over the past two days at the Salón del Vino at Andalucía Sabor. I don’t think they’ve done this before – setting up a room where you can try all the wines being presented (so you don’t have to hang around the stands waiting for someone to notice you and give you a sample). Brilliant idea. I much prefer sampling on my own without the bodega rep waiting for my response. Some very interesting discoveries… have been left with a new respect for local wines.

… in over forty years.
Ever since an “unfortunate incident” with gin when I was about 16 I haven’t been able to even smell the stuff without feeling queasy. So when we were offered complimentary gin cocktails at a recent foodie event I thought “uh oh”. But in the name of research I stepped up to the bar and asked what these locally made gins were all about. Turns out there were two on offer: one made from wild berries and the other from orange blossom (azahar) and citrus. And well, how could I turn down a cocktail with azahar in it? Here you see it, mixed with a citrus tonic that for some reason was blue, and it was actually quite lovely. Though I doubt I am about to turn into a regular G&T drinker anytime soon.

What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than with new friends enjoying amazing sherries paired with tasty tapas. Thanks to Twitter (once again) I got to meet Paddy @vineinspiration and Lorna @styleisleIRL and took them out on a Sherry & Tapas Tour. Not that Paddy needed any “educating” as he is accomplished wine blogger and specialises in sherry. Which is actually how we “met” on Twitter. Anyhow, Paddy & Lorna were on their way to the Vendimia (wine harvest) in Jerez but stopped off for a couple of days in Sevilla first. And it turns out they will be back in October because Paddy will be taking the Sherry Educator course with me! Small world.
This is only a sampling of what we got up to. It was so much fun “talking shop” with people who share my sherry passion. Looking forward to meeting up again in October.
