hatched chick
… things suddenly seem to be going quite well.

Okay, maybe not everything, and maybe not as much as I might have hoped … but I’m really feeling good about things today. Have been following my heart of late and am amazed (though I shouldn’t be) at how much better life is when I do so…

toshiba tofu1

This is Tofu … Flor’s new laptop.

A Toshiba Satellite L300 29U. And nobody is more surprised than Flor that she ended up buying a new computer yesterday, as that had not been even remotely on her “to-do” list. But  we’d got to talking after yoga class about this and that, and I asked if she still wanted me to help her with her computer stuff. You may recall that awhile back I helped set her up with a WordPress blog, a Twitter account, a new Gmail account, Fotki, and a few other things. It was after doing this that I got the idea that I could probably charge money for this sort of thing. But then I went back on chemo and everything went for a burton. Until yesterday …

ram-1Build it and they will come…

So remember back in March when the fabulous Sexy Beast developed a crack in her casing and had to go into computer hospital for over a month, which resulted in me buying Shadow as a back-up computer, because I couldn’t be left unconnected at home? Well, ever since SB came back it seemed to me that she was running very slowly, especially compared to Shadow. So she has been somewhat neglected. Until now…

ebook

Ever since my Twitter buddy WeeRascal showed up here last spring with most of Sevilla Tapas printed out in his briefcase I’ve been thinking about publishing a small tapas guidebook. And more recently I’ve been thinking that the easiest and cheapest way to start off would be in e-book form. One smallish obstacle … I have no idea how to even start doing this.

What I have found out is that I can write my e-book as a PDF, which meant looking for some free software, and I have  since downloaded OpenOffice.org, though I’m told there are lots of other free applications that will turn almost any document into a PDF.  And so I am going to spend this weekend getting familiar with OpenOffice.

Meanwhile, if anyone out there can offer me any help, advice, info – including on how to publish once I get the book written – I would greatly appreciate it. Oh, and in the simplest terms possible please. If you talk in “the nerd-person” I am sure to get lost.

to do list

Since I got home from Zahara (a week ago last night) I’ve been GETTING THINGS DONE. And feeling very pleased about it, because there really was – and still is – a helluva lot of stuff to do. And so I have been writing daily to-do lists and taking great pleasure in checking things off them (sound familiar, Susan?).

This week I am not only back to daily yoga & pilates classes, I’m also doing extra workouts at the gym.  And I am trying to get my old students organised (though to be honest, I probably won’t see them again until October) as well as find some new students – both for myself and Nog. So we are working on the Restaurant English plan together. I’m also working on setting up some tapas tours with someone I met on Twitter who has a “bespoke holiday” biz in the UK.  And a guy I met last weekend (while helping alejna find an apartment for her September holiday in Sevilla) wants to meet with me about featuring Sevilla Tapas on his website. Meanwhile, I am thinking about what to offer in my online Sevilla Store. Because I need to line up at least a couple of jobs I can do from home … just in case.

Have also been doing a massive clean out of the apartment. I have been so ruthless about throwing old stuff out that I scarcely recognise myself. But it feels good! Like a fresh start. I think I’ve said here before that September always feels more like the new year than January does. And even more so this year.

So, do you love or hate to-do lists? I love ’em.
