morcilla’s revenge

This has become a regular early morning drama. Here you can see Morcilla staring down Loki after having just chased him off the bed. I think she is getting her own back because the big orange brute does terrorise the girls sometimes. So she has taken to disrupting Loki’s post breakfast snooze by getting up on the bed and making some noise (her little growls are adorable!) until she has his attention and then whacking him on the head until he is relagated to the floor. Sometimes he will wait a bit and come back up, and then the drama repeats itself. Of course this only happens when I am still in bed and my brave little girl knows I have her back.  🙂

Soooooo… have been working on a blog post about tourism in Sevilla. Well, it applies pretty much everywhere I’m sure. Just putting some thoughts together about the effect of mass tourism on travel destinations, and also about how places are so often marketed in a misleading way. One of those horrid catchphrases that I’m sure you’ve all heard by now is LIVE LIKE A LOCAL.

To wit I’ve been capturing some photos of how I – a local – actually live in Sevilla. This was one of them. Funny, right? Well, apparently not. I got some serious verbal backlash when I posted this on Instagram a few days ago with #livinglikealocal and #livelikealocal hashtags. This was followed by a dozen or so “unfollows”. And I had been SO CLOSE to reaching 5000 followers  😉

I would have quoted the Divine Ms M – FUCK ‘EM IF THEY CAN’T TAKE A JOKE – but I’m sure that would have just got me into more trouble. Anyhoodle… will let you know when I finish.  🙂

This showed up on one of my feeds… one of those “X years ago today” things… and OMG. Look how little and sweet! She still hadn’t grown into her paws. This was the time I went to Málaga in July 2013 when Morcilla was still a baby, just over three months old, so I took her with me. I remember back then I thought she would become my regular travelling companion, but it turned out it wasn’t that easy to find accommodation that would accept cats. Oh well.
