friday-night-fun-2I was so excited to find the recipe for chef Shaun Searley’s amazing confit potatoes (pictured below at the amazing Quality Chop House in London) and decided to include them in my Christmas Eve dinner. Well, they ended up taking all of Friday evening to prepare, with slicing and layering and slow baking for three hours (!!). The final frying happens just before serving. I hope they turn out, but just in case I’ll have some back-up roasties. What are you making for Christmas dinner?

ermSo I can’t figure out if this is meant to be a global unifying message or if the people who put this together really think Antarctic Emperor penguins live with Arctic Eskimos.

christmas, friends, sevilla, tapas, we love tapas, work

wlt-christmas-16Getting the We Love Tapas team all together at once can be a bit like herding cats, which isn’t really surprising when talking about four (including me) busy free-lancers. But we finally managed to find a few hours for a nice pre-Christmas lunch to catch up and connect. First we did a little Tapas Research, trying out a new bar (with mixed results) and then ended up for a “dessert” course of cheese and sherry at Palo Cortao. Good times.

gato-biciOn my way home I stumbled across the opening party for Un Gato En Bicicleta. For years this alternative bookshop has been going strong in calle Regina, but they have now moved to larger premises (in my street!) and are going to also include a café/bar. At least it won’t be – I hope – another late night bar…

suns-backAfter a crazy RAINY week the sun is back and the streets in Sevilla are looking all shiny and festive. I’ve also decked the halls here at Casa Az with my annual poinsettia header, and the snow started falling on the blog December 1st. Starting to get that Christmas feeling. How about you?
