So I’ve had a couple of guest writers on my Substack (HAVE I MENTIONED I HAVE A SUBSTACK???) such as Paul writing about Jazz in Sevilla and Alexis giving us tips on how to buy olive oil in Sevilla, but this is the first time I’ve done a full-on collab. And of course it had to be with my pal Jeffrey XtremeFoodies, who is also my substack twin (we started there at the same time). The topic, as you can see, is Tapas vs Pintxos.
Jeffrey was Team Pintxo (San Sebastián) and I was Team Tapas (Sevilla) and it was, as they say, an EXPERIENCE. We are both really pleased with the end result and we also learned a lot along the way. And I think we also got to know each other a bit better, always nice. So there will be more collabs in the future, but for now please enjoy this one. And don’t forget to give it a Like, or even a Share, and if you really liked it please consider becoming a (free or paid) subscriber…

Yesterday was Peter’s birthday and I asked him what he wanted to do and he said what he wanted to do was stay home. Fair enough. Sundays are always so busy at bars and restaurants and it was off and on rainy, so I opened up this lovely cava left over from my birthday in January and then made a nice comfort food meal (cheesy roasties, little gems with caesar dressing, perfect fried eggs) and that was that. I mean, he is getting OLD. 😉

You may remember Katie & Paul, who visited here back in the fall of 2023. We’d met through social media and then also got to meet in person and we’ve stayed in touch ever since. Katie runs food adventure company Bowland & Bay in Lancashire UK and this week she hosted her first “trial run” Sevilla Getaway with six close friends, and of course Paul (aka Sherry Boy) came along too.
At first Katie had wanted a Triana Tour and a Sherry Tour but of course I CAN’T WALK, which I didn’t think was still going to be an issue when we first started organising things last October. Well okay, I can’t walk much. So since there were going to be eight of them requiring a slightly modified itinerary anyhow, I basically came up with two new “experiences” for them which would require less walking (and taxis home) for me. And both of them went so well I may start offering a version of these shorter tours on my website. Because, other than still being able to do my Sherry Tastings, the tours have been on hold since last summer. We shall see.
Meanwhile, Katie is already organising her next Sevilla Getaway for next October and I’m already looking forward to it.
