I love that Sevilla can still surprise me. The other day I was walking back from getting my stitches out and took a turn down a street I hadn’t been down in a couple of years at least. And I spotted this carbonería (coalyard) with its doors open, so I poked my head inside. It was a huge space, very dark and, not surprisingly, quite gritty. Then I saw a fellow sitting at the far end of the adjoining room, who put down his newspaper and asked if he could help me. Well, I couldn’t say I was just browsing (for coal?) so I asked him a bit about the place. Aside from different types of coal/charcoal and cut wood, you can also buy BBQs, houseplants, bags of soil and – curiously – used books. I think I’ll go back for a mini BBQ…

This is often my route home after an evening tapas tour. Gorgeous, isn’t it?
Especially as this photo was taken at the end of January…

… I haz them. With oranges.
All this talk about Juno (when did they start naming snow storms?) and Stormaggeddon. Honestly, at the risk of sounding like one of the four Yorkshire men, when I were a lass I often used to have to walk to school in waist-deep snow. We just bundled up and donned our mukluks. Photos of the Juno afflicted areas look like regular winter days in the places I grew up. Of course, I’d hate it now, but hey, that’s why I live here.
