Malaga, trips, work

malaga parkSo I am off to Málaga… possibly for just the day, possibly overnight. I’m driving down with the veoapartment gang to look at some apartments and they are driving back in the late afternoon. Still debating on whether to stay over.

I’d like to also take a walking tour and talk to another apartment owner but I haven’t been feeling well the past couple of days and will have to race home the next day for a tapas tour (train gets in half an hour before tour starts).

Watch this space!

At the end of every trip to Málaga it always feels like it was never long enough, and on the train ride home after my most recent visit I got to thinking that I needed some sort of work-related ‘excuse’ to get down to my second home on a regular basis. And it looks like that’s about to happen! This week I start working with veoapartment as their Málaga expert, taking care of finding holiday apartments there and setting up the soon-to-be-launched Málaga page. Once up and running I’ll also be handling bookings and updating and have been told I’ll be making regular trips to Málaga. Yay!

What’s extra cool is that I think this is the perfect ‘extra part time job’ I’ve been looking for. I can do a lot of it from home with occasional meetings at the office, and I really like working with the Veo gang (I’ve been their social media manager for just over a year). So while it’s very early days – I still have to find the apartments! – it is definitely an exciting project. Wish me luck!

liron and odelya
It happened again! The other day photojournalist Liron Shimoni got in touch with me to talk about my Sevilla Tapas Tour as he is working on an article about Andalucia for a prominent Israeli travel magazine, and so we arranged to meet up when he was in town. Turned out his wife Odelya and their baby were with him, so yesterday I took them all on a two-stop lunchtime tour. At first it felt odd being formally interviewed (Liron was even taping me!) but after awhile the recorder was forgotten and we just started chatting naturally. It was a great afternoon and I had the opportunity to experience what it’s like for other people who go out for lunch with me. 😉

Tomorrow gets even crazier as I am going to be filmed and interviewed for local TV – eek!

cooking class
So this is what I did yesterday! For ages I have been looking for a Spanish cooking class in Sevilla that is offered in English because so many of my Sevilla Tapas Tour clients ask me about this. Then a couple of weeks ago I happened to mention this to my friend Sam @AndaluciaSam and he told me about a local company Travel & Cuisine, who have recently moved to new premises. And as another friend Fiona @Seville_Writer also has a client interested in cooking classes we arranged to take a class with T & C to see if we would be comfortable recommending them personally. And we not only had a great time – and a great lunch – but we were also very happy with the quality of the class and the great space they have. I’ll be writing more about this on the Azahar Sevilla blog, but for now here’s a sneak photo peek.

Later on yesterday evening I had a last-minute Gourmet Tapas Tour and ended up rolling home around 1.00 am. So today it was a bit of a recovery day, with a trip to the gym and a nice salad for dinner. How’s your week going?
