It was an honour to be invited to this week’s 1st Province of Seville Wine Awards as one of the 10 judges. Our task was to blind taste 14 white and 16 red wines from various bodegas in the province and rate them. I was catador (taster) nº 10. Then our points were counted and the awards were given. The winners were…
Best white: El Mirlo Blanco 2015, Bodega Tierra Savia
Best red: Cocolubis 2013, Bodega La Margarita

I’ve loved Keith Haring’s work since I first came across it in the mid-80s. So I was delighted to come across this piece in the Toro Museum at Bodegas Osborne, which combines the emblematic Osborne bull with images from Picasso’s Guernica. Genius.

I picked these beauties on my way home. Love carrying azahar around in my pocket and, when I was doing this in Jerez, I’d leave them on the ledge behind my hotel bed (which happened twice as we changed rooms for the second night). Jo said it was like leaving my “trademark” behind – az wuz here. 🙂

Going through old pics today, attempting to catch up on Sevilla Tapas updates, and I came across this one. Back in June, Carlos, the owner of Sevilla’s oldest bar – El Rinconcillo – took out this old sign to show us which reads “Spitting on the floor not allowed for hygienic reasons”. They still have the “no singing” sign up, but apparently this one is no longer necessary.
