It’s been another pre-op special lunch week.  First Pipocas invited me out to a new place (for us) called Oporto and we had a wonderful meal. Then Nog took me out for a tapa snack at one of our favourite places, Enrique Becerra (scroll down to photos 42-44) and the boys there treated us to drinks and a tapa as well as hugging me and saying they’ll see me in December. So I was feeling quite nicely spoiled.

And so yesterday I * decided to spoil Nog a bit and take him to a Mexican place called La Chaparrita that we’ve been wanting to try, ever since my friend Judy recommended it a couple of months ago.  Nog had never had Mexican food before (well, other than the stuff I make at home) so we ordered a special menu for two that came with a selection of various dishes. And he loved it. We cycled there and walked back and it was indeed a very pleasant afternoon.

* of course when I say “I”  treated Nog I mean “you guys” did (you know who you are) as I had to use donation money to take us out.  And so, just wanted to thank you for a fab lunch and a special treat.  Especially as it’s going to be broccoli & green tea at home for the next couple of days and for who-knows-how-long after I get home from hospital.

travel plans

Last month, after I was told I was inoperable and there was no chance of a cure, I was tempted to max out my credit cards and take dream trips to London, New York and the Greek Islands. I was especially wanting to go to London for Christmas, but now that I have been given the chance of having a future again, I’d rather not spend that future being up to my eyeballs in debt.  And so, while London is sadly no longer an option, there are some inexpensive travel possibilities that have come up recently . . .

predicting the future

Back in August my friend raincoaster sent me an email telling me about a very strong psychic premonition she’d had about my situation. Here is what she wrote …

The premonition:

You are in for a two-year haul, but at the end of it, you live. Some of it will be beautiful and joyful, but a lot of it, quite frankly, will be shitty, and battening down the hatches economically would be a good idea. And emotionally, you can and should rely on your friends. They are solid people and will be there for you. The shitty part is, sometimes you will wonder if it’s worth it. Only you can say, of course, but know that you are loved and if nothing else know that your continuing existence is a way to honour that. And if you bear through it, you will come out triumphant if winded in the end.

I’m still waiting for Ricardo to call with Tuesday’s PET scan results, so let’s see how close he comes to Rain’s premonition. There will probably be another clinical session to decide on the next prognosis & treatment, but at least Ricardo will be able to give me an idea as to whether this will include more surgery or just (just – ha!) more chemo. I feel like I’ll be able to focus better (better – ha!) once I know what the next plan of action is going to be. Strangely or otherwise, I don’t feel as worried as I have at other times. Of course I am hoping for the best possible results but, according to what Ricardo told Pipocus and I the other day, even the worst possible scenario would still give me a fighting chance.

And speaking of test results, I’m really hoping that Sara (aka strangelittleangel) gets the all-clear after her tests today. Thinking about you honey!f_hug.gif
