It’s now 23 days after my last operation (liver resection and removal of one out of two peritoneal lesions) and I’m finally getting my strength back. This one really took it outta me, and getting that nasty infection last week didn’t help. But I am definitely on the mend and of course the amazing biopsy results have helped a lot. Though I remain cautiously optimistic…

All three biopsies came back negative!!!
So it was back to the hospital this morning with Pipocas. I was supposed to get my belly looked at again after last week’s emergency trip due to having an infection. I was worried because something gross had ruptured through the incision and was looking rather nasty, but it turned out not to be anything serious and I was even told I could stop taking the antibiotics now. And while there I asked Amazing Nurse Person if she could check and see if my biopsy reports had come back …

Had lunch in Sanlúcar de Barrameda yesterday.
It was the first time I’d been out of the house in a week (not including the hospital visit last Wednesday) so I was quite looking forward to getting out and going somewhere nice for lunch with Pipocas. I was also feeling cautious of overdoing it like I did on my first day out after the liver op. And so of course I ended up going on a six-hour trip in order to eat the famous langostinos of Sanlúcar…

Yet another taxi ride to the hospital today.
On Monday the nurse came over and took out my staples (ouch!) and when I asked him why the pain wasn’t getting any better he just said it was a big incision, plus it was the second time they’d opened the same area, so that it would probably take longer to heal. I’m also having a bit of leakage (ewww) but the nurse said it didn’t look infected, and I didn’t have a fever, so we left it at that. And then . . .

Pipocas dragged me out of the house yesterday afternoon for art and burgers. I wasn’t sure if I was up to it as the op was just over a week ago and I’m still in a fair bit of pain and discomfort. But as the weather forecast was calling for RAIN until next Tuesday, I thought I’d better try and get out. And it really was worth the effort. . .
