Woke up this morning to discover that overnight about half a dozen of my Twitter accounts had been suspended. And a couple of those had additionally been “accused” of attempting to evade a permanent suspension, including one account I hadn’t even looked at in years. Meanwhile another bunch of accounts are still active. Why so many accounts, you ask? No idea really. Most were started over the past 10 years or so as different business ideas popped up, mostly to secure the user name. Some were in use for a while, but the only two I actually use these days are @azahar (personal) and @sevillatapas (mostly business), same as on Instagram. In any case, there is no rule about having several accounts.

Anyhow, I have no idea what’s going on or why some accounts were suspended and others weren’t. I mean, I clearly haven’t been manipulating or spamming anywhere. And how could an account that hasn’t been used in years be starting new accounts to evade permanent suspension? The mind reels. I’ve read that suspensions can last for 24 hours up to a week, so for the moment I am going to just wait and hope this was some weird glitch that gets sorted soon. Either that or I’ve been hacked or “reported” by someone who wants to close my accounts (??). Has this ever happened to you?

My goodness… I have suddenly gone from being a very reluctant participant on Clubhouse (preferring to lurk and listen) to co-hosting THREE clubs. It all started the other day when the cats woke me up way too early, about 5.30 am. So I had a look at Clubhouse and there were these two guys, and then three @jack.madrid @yaffler @sommelierbrenodefaria, having a chat about fortified wines. I popped into the room, thinking I would just lurk as always, but they started asking me questions and finally I was brought up “on stage” and ended up yakking away about sherry for ages. We finally decided it would be a great idea to have a Club dedicated to fortified wines and, since I was the only one with “club credits” left, it was up to me to get the ball rolling.

Then the next day I was chatting with my friend Gabriella @tenedortours (aka Shawn of the North 😉) and I told her about this new club and said it would also be great to start one about Spanish wines. Gabriella has has lots of experience on Clubhouse already, speaking and moderating on various clubs, so she got the new Spanish Wine Club set up in no time. To compliment it I set up the Spanish Food Club, because you really can’t (or shouldn’t) have one without the other. And so that’s how it all happened.

All three clubs debut this week. I’m nervous AF, but luckily my co-hosts are seasoned Clubhouse pros. Still… eep! 😬

So how many of you are on Clubhouse? I joined a couple of weeks ago but haven’t used it much. Still kind of figuring it out. It’s not super intuitive, but looks like it could end up being interesting. And like any social media platform it’s only as interesting as the people you follow there. So far for me it’s mostly food and wine people.

It’s an audio platform, which makes it a bit different. For me it’s a bit like having the radio on and listening to conversations on various topics. Some you can join in, others have a set panel of “experts” talking and then we do the listening. And you can create your own conversation rooms and make them either public or private. Anyhow, as I say, it’s still early days for me. I remember back in 2007 when I couldn’t see the point of Twitter, and now I practically live there. So we shall see.

For now Clubhouse is invitation only and only available on iPhone. I still have a couple of invites but please only ask for them if you think you’ll use them. There are about half a dozen I sent out and the people still haven’t signed up. Not a big deal, but I’d prefer to send them to those who actually want to try this out.

Reached a couple of milestones on my Instagram accounts this week. Got just over 6500 followers on the Sevilla Tapas account, and finally nudged up to 1200 on Azahar. I don’t know if you guys follow me over there, but they are my most visual social media accounts. Twitter (for both @sevillatapas and @azahar) is my more chatty platform. And Facebook… to be honest, I only use it to post links to there. I’ve just never liked it, but I keep it going for those friends who only use FB. Anyhow! If you are on Instagram and are not yet following me there, well what are you waiting for?  😉

So yay! I have got up to 6,000 followers on my Sevilla Tapas Instagram. Yeah I know, not exactly INFLUENCER numbers 😉 but I always like to celebrate a click over to the next K. I’m actually much more active on Insta and Twitter than I am on Facebook, so if you’re interested pop over and say hola.
