This week the Asociación de Guías Gastronómicos de Andalucía (AGGA) held a special meeting to elect a new treasurer and two new committee members. Both Lola (president) and María (treasurer) are expecting daughters any minute now and, while Lola will be back after her maternity leave, María has decided to step down as treasurer, though she will continue to be a member.

Meanwhile, for the past few months Sharon, Alejandro and Clotilde have been included in the Executive Committee group chat (there’s also a members one) and have been helping with organisation and the general functioning of the association, so it was time to make them official committee members.

Sharon is taking over the treasurer post and Clotilde and Ale will continue as a part of the committee but now in an official capacity. It’s actually been great having these three with us, especially as our membership grows (we are now 34 strong), not only to spread out the work load but also to rely on for fresh ideas and inspiration. It’s all good.

I mean what the hell? Remember the first time this happened? I honestly thought it was a one-off bad luck thing and it took FOREVER for Cosori to come through with a new basket. In fact, it took so long that I asked a different division as well and ended up with two baskets (!!!).  I tucked the second one up in the storage room thinking, you know, I wouldn’t need it but just in case. Sure came in handy today.

But now I don’t know. One the one hand this shouldn’t keep happening (is it me??) so maybe I should try and get another replacement from Cosori, again just in case. On the other hand the beast is three years old now and is used several times a week. A few months ago the fan started making weird growling noises when I turned it on but if I banged it on top a couple of times it settled down (???) so I was thinking it would have to be replaced soon anyhow. But then it suddenly fixed itself? In any case it’s been working fine lately… until this. I’m actually okay with upgrading but times are tight atm and if I can keep on with this one for now that would be best.

Has this happened to any of you?

too many hobbles

I think I really overdid things this past week. I mean, I try to get out for a hobble each day, as well as doing my chair workouts five times a week. But between Málaga-Marbella and Jerez I worry that I may have actually done some extra damage to The Knee. Because now it seriously hurts (even more) like fuck. Today I wanted to go to the market and gave up half-way there. The thing was, once out and about you just kind of have to keep going. Especially if you are in the centre of pedestrianised Málaga (no taxis!) or when your lunch location in Benalmádena ends up being at the bottom of a very steep foot path (ouch!).

But I persevered then took a couple of days off before heading to Jerez. I don’t know if that was a mistake or not, or if all of it was wrong to do, but dammit I’m so tired of not being able to do things. And with NOBODY helping me with info about what I should or should not be doing (other than go to the pool, ride a bike, lose weight). Not one doctor has told to either keep walking or stop walking. And so I keep on, not exactly walking, but hobbling on my trusty crutches. Clocked over 15,000 hobbles in Málaga and another 12,000 in Jerez. And each one hurt so much. I just want my life back.
