kyranclaire
I’d been looking forward to the Return of Kyran & Claire for months! And then it turned out that their five days in Sevilla coincided with me being on crutches and not being about to go out and play much. But we still managed to pack in a couple of serious tapeos. In retrospect I may as well have done the sherry tour I’d promised them. Each time we met up it was only for “a quick tapa” and somehow ended up with me getting home several hours later…

I really didn’t want them to leave. But they promise to be back again later in the year. 🙂

malaga 2013-001Here I go again! After a crazy three months of work-work-work it’s looking like December (and probably January) are going to be a bit slow. So I’m going to “sign off” for two months and work on setting up my other projects, which I hope will be ready to go by the time the spring season arrives.

And so of course now I have to go to Málaga! One: because I’m not working much other than on my projects (and I will take my laptop with me). Two: because I want to visit my friends there. Three: because I really really really *miss* Málaga like an ache in my heart. So what the heck.

I’m also going to have a totally new Málaga experience this time by staying in a hotel (!!!). Which means I can’t take Morcilla with me, but even my friend Victor said that three nights wasn’t worth disrupting her life for. Which of course is true. I know that Morcilla will be fine now hanging out with Loki and Luna, with Peter to look after them all. But what about ME??? So far I’ve only spent two nights away from my little girl, which was hard enough…

But yes, it’s exciting to think that tomorrow I’ll be getting on the train to Málaga yet again. Gosh I love that place. And kind of on the heels of my weekend getaway to Cádiz, I think this mid-week jaunt will be just what I need right now. A bit of a “disconnect”, but also some just hang around with myself time. I’ll have a book or two with me, laptop and iPad (so no, won’t be “disconnected” in that way). I guess I mean just having a change from my usual routine to see how I feel doing something completely different in a different place. Which is why the hotel option will also be interesting, though that was just chance as I got a great deal from a very cool hotel in the new hip part of town. I think it’s gonna be great! My Christmas Holiday.

reality checkDay after hols and back into Reality big time. First I hit the gym this morning (was really missing that) and ran into a guy I know there who told me that a favourite Pilates instructor is back next week, so I’m going to insert two classes a week into my gym schedule. Don’t get enough around to doing enough stretch and strength stuff on my own.

And now I’m back home getting ready for a “two-fer” hospital visit, to get my chemo port cleaned and also see Dr Ana the oncologist. I had my blood work done before I left for Málaga and so she’ll check that and then set up my next PET scan. Already scanxiety is starting to set in and I’m hoping to not have the scan until at least the third week of September as there is just so much booked already (tours and special events). Plus I am still working on the new projects and have to devote some time to serious study so I can get the sherry tours going. I missed out on taking a Sherry Master course this month and can probably get in for the one next winter, which will be great, but I’d like to get the sherry tours started in October. And so, you see, I really can’t be sick again – I’m way too busy! *fingers crossed*

last night malaga
Yesterday I realised I still hadn’t made it down to the beach (!!!) so last night I took a walk over to Pedregalejo, the old fisherman’s village, for a final meal by the sea. And it was a gorgeous evening. It was a delightful 45-minute seaside walk from the centre, during which the sun rather spendidly went down. I also saw tons of frolicking kittehs on a rocky stretch of the walk, passed the new controversial chiringuitos (beach bars) recently put up by the city council, and even saw a bride and groom photo shoot that had them both frolicking in the waves… weird.

I couldn’t decide whether to go to my favourite family-run fish restaurant AndrĂ©s Maricuchi or go back to the newly opened Pez Tomillo (actually owned by Sevillano chef Ernesto Malasaña) so in the end I went to both. Had some fabulously crispy lemon boquerones at Maricuchi with a couple of glasses of Botani, then had a small tapa of stewed oxtail with potato purĂ©e at Pez Tomillo. And more wine. After which I stumbled to a taxi stand and was happily tucked up in bed with Morcilla by midnight. Nice ending to another wonderful holiday in Málaga.

Now back home catching up on emails and other work, plus sorting through photos. I think it’ll take me at least a week to do all my updates. Oh, and there are tapas tours booked. Lots and lots of them!

bling ring

bling, holidays, prezzies

bling ringEver since I had a much-loved ring sawed off my middle left finger due to snapping the tendon of said finger in a mad fit of tidying up (long story)… well, I’ve been looking for another ring for that finger. I actually had to have all three rings on that hand cut off because the hand had swollen up so much after the tendon broke, but managed to get my favourite mobius strip ring repaired. The middle finger ring was actually three silver rings intertwined, and I don’t even know what happened to all the pieces.

But then on a day trip to Nerja this week with my friend Victor @WeLoveMalaga I saw this! And it called my name and I said, “well hello there fabulous ring I have been looking for!” Love it. A Swarovski crystal in a non-Swarovski silver setting. Yes please! Which goes perfectly with my Swarovski earrings. Really I had to. Now on my left hand I have a lovely engraved Diana Porter pinky ring that says “save the feeling”, my fab mobius strip silver ring, and now the bling ring. I am happy.
