As you no doubt recall last Thursday and Friday was spent with food writer Kalyan (@FinelyChopped) and his lovely wife Kainaz from Mumbai. They were in town for a few days and we did a Sevilla Tapas Tour one night and Flamenco & Tapas the next.

Then on Saturday I got in touch with new neighbours and professional travellers Ang & Ryan (@JetsLikeTaxis) from Chicago who are in Sevilla for a couple of months, and who had taken a walking tour with Peter last week. I was planning on checking out a new tapas bar and asked if they’d like to join me, which they happily did. And it was great getting their input as well as just enjoying a nice lunch out with new friends.

Today I met up with world travelling podcasters Linda & Craig Martin (@indietravel) from New Zealand, who have been in Spain since last spring and happened to be in Sevilla for the day with their friend Alba from La Coruña. So we went out for an impromptu lunchtime tapeo which, as usual, got a bit carried away. You can see a bit of what we got up to in that collage. Our extended lunch also meant they missed going to the two main sites they had planned on visiting (which closed at 5 o’clock). Oops!

The thing is, none of these encounters would have happened without Twitter. Amazing, innit?

Just over a month ago I did some research for my Flamenco & Tapas Tours when I visited the Flamenco Museum, and this week I got to do a bit more at the Casa de la Guitarra. I really like both venues and both will be good for the tours, in different ways. Also this week I got the first Trip Advisor review for my Flamenco & Tapas Tours. Really think these are going to be great.

And tonight I am going back to the Opera at the Market.  What are you up to tonight?

sexy beast, shadow and the greyhound

Today I did a bit of tidying up. My little laptop family may seem a bit excessive but anyone who has followed The Saga will know that Shadow was bought when Sexy Beast had to go to computer hospital and there was no way I could be without a working computer for over a month. In any case, SB was already getting a bit tired so it was probably time for an upgrade. When I got SB back I added some RAM and passed her on to Peter as his old HP (aka The Brick) had kicked the bucket. Likewise when I recently bought The Greyhound, Shadow became Peter’s work laptop. Except sometimes I still need all three. Like today.

First of all I needed some printing done, which can only be done on Shadow as I’ve lost the installation discs for my printer (can probably find it online but bleh…) and I also wanted to add some music to my iPod, which can only be done on Sexy Beast. The last one is more of An Issue than the printing. So if someone knows of an EASY way of moving my iTunes library over to The Greyhound, I’m all ears. It’s ridiculous that you can’t sync your iPod on more than one computer, for all kinds of obvious reasons.

But on the bright side I spent a good hour cleaning out old files from Shadow so that he should run a lot faster for Peter now. And t’s also given me a chance to update a lot of stuff on Sexy Beast that needed doing, not the least of which was installing the latest version of iTunes. So I am feeling quite accomplished in the way you feel after you’ve cleaned out some unruly closet space.

What did you do today?

a happily hectic week

Just a fly-by post as things have been pretty hectic this week. But happily hectic!

Here are the Londoners with Peter up on the roof after a lazy tapas lunch out. After lunch we had gone over to visit Azar’s grave (at Sara’s request) then over to casa az so everyone could see the new place and meet the kittehs. You can just about make out Loki on the small table next to Sara. Luna was lurking around the edges pretending to be nervous. Anyhow, it’s been great seeing the gang again and once again I find myself wishing that my faraway friends didn’t live so faraway.

How’s your week been?

off to córdoba (again)

So you may recall that two weeks ago I was in a quandary about whether to go on this overnight trip to Córdoba, with Azar being so frail. And one of my problems about waiting to see how the old darling was doing was that I didn’t want to cancel the hotel at the last minute, since I was being invited to stay there. Then about a week ago I realised that I could always go on my own and leave Peter at home to look after Azar, which set my mind at ease. And then this morning came and we took a long look at Azar and thought – he’ll be okay overnight – so now Peter is coming with me. I hope I don’t end up regretting that decision, but the truth is that Azar has been eating well, doing his “business” regularly (though he sometimes misses the box), and drinking plenty of water. He mostly snoozes the days away, waking up to eat and get a cuddle, much as any cat his age would do. Poor thing is pretty much blind and that nasty tumour seems bigger and uglier every day, making it difficult for him to walk. But as he’ll be staying on his own in my bedroom, separated from the other two, he won’t have far to go to get everything he needs.

It’s still a tough decision but my gut tells me that Azar is strong enough right now to be fine on his own from 8 am tomorrow until 6 pm on Wednesday. Now if I can only keep myself from worrying the whole time!

We are going to be staying at the Palacio de Balío Hospes Hotel, which is stunning. They have also arranged for us to enjoy a flamenco guitar concert and dinner there, and we are also invited for breakfast. If it’s anything like the Hospes Hotel here, it should be amazing. But let’s not forget that this is primarily a work trip, which is the other reason Peter really should come along. During the day we’ll be revisiting places we’ve been before so that he can organise a couple of routes for his Seville Concierge day trips. And of course we’ll have to try out a couple of restaurants. When we were there for that day trip in June it was mostly to see the Feria and have a look at the new Patio Museum so I’m looking forward to seeing the Mesquita again, as well as a few other things I’ve never seen that Peter has lined up.

And so now all I have to do is NOT WORRY!
